King of the Jews

"Though He does not resemble many of the depictions of Him, He loves the artists."

JESUS IS A JEW. I have said this many times. Yet it comes back up in me after hearing the words of a song where the artist sang that those he knew spent their time trying to prove Jesus wasn’t white. Now, I won’t get into racial division because that is ridiculous and ungodly. God created all people and adores all cultures. Jesus died for whosoever, which is defined in Thayer’s Greek Definitions as “some of all types.” But frankly, I was mystified that anyone would spend their time trying to prove Jesus wasn’t one skin color as opposed to another, especially when they are people in the church.

The entire Bible was originally written in Hebrew and spoken in Aramaic (then Greek). This is a historical fact. It is a book of the history of Israel and the God of Israel, who sent His Son as a Jew to redeem the entire world. How can anyone be confused about this? Saying that, I am aware, from watching some beautiful testimonies of Messianic Jews, that most of them, before salvation, believed the New Testament was Catholic. (This is not a statement against Catholics.) They, in fact, feared the gospels being Anti-Semitic, but found they were not. One man said salvation was one of the most Jewish things he could ever do. Another young Jewish woman had a vision of Jesus and described Him as being “very Jewish” in dress and appearance.

There are some fantastic artists in this world and some that graciously donate their art for free download and for whatever use you choose. Many that draw Jesus in some beautiful fashions. There are some whose work you can purchase. I have quite a few here and there in my house, but I am aware when looking at them, that they are not actually Jesus and most of what I find on the internet for free download look far too Caucasian. Jesus loves people. He loves creativity. The Holy Spirit inspires people to write all genres of music and to work in all manners of art. Here’s a shocker – God is not opposed to dancing. It is simply the question, “Is it being used in a godly manner?” People draw what they should not. People sing what they should not. People dance in ways they should not. So people can draw, and it be anointed for God’s use. People can sing, and it be anointed for God’s use. People can dance, and the Spirit be in it. One woman had a vision of Jesus dancing with her. One known prophet saw Jesus wearing camouflage pants. What do we do with these? Throw stones? Jesus didn’t even want us to throw stones at a known sinner.

Jesus is not Caucasian nor Catholic. He isn’t Protestant nor any particular denomination. He is human with a glorified body (how the Bible refers to Him). He is also God the Word who created all things in the beginning. He has a mother and a father who cared for Him on earth. The Almighty God is also His Father. He lives in every saved child of God through the Spirit of God. You can talk to Him, and He will hear you. Always. If you learn to walk in the Spirit and to be led of the Spirit, you will hear Him speak back. Minister Dutch Sheets was in a bar, drunk and on drugs, running from God, when Jesus spoke to Him. Minister Jesse Duplantis was in a bar performing with his rock band somewhere in Mexico when his mother called the bar, asking for him. God had given her the phone number. Both Minister Sheets and Minister Duplantis was sober in an instant … and not from fear. The Spirit of God, also called the Spirit of Christ, sobered them.

But we must know as a foundation of our faith that He is the King of the Jews. They are His covenant people who He formed as a nation in order to bring redemption to the world. Though He does not resemble many of the depictions of Him, He loves the artists. Though He does not like the music style someone chooses to sing it, He loves the songwriter. Though He may not eat watermelon nor drink coffee and may prefer chocolate covered raisins and chocolate cake, He loves farmers and bakers and candlestick makers. He may prefer cherry trees and orange trees to fig trees. One day, we’ll ask Him. But point is, let’s honor Him as a Jew and love His people, those who know Him and those who don’t.

“And Pilate answered and said again unto them, What will ye then that I shall do unto him whom ye call the King of the Jews?” (Mark 15:12)

“And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his head, And began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews!” (Mark 15:17-18)

“And the superscription of his accusation was written over, THE KING OF THE JEWS.” (Mark 15:26)

“Likewise also the chief priests mocking said among themselves with the scribes, He saved others; himself he cannot save. Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him.” (Mark 15:31-32)
