One Man

"A dead tree created a living one."

GOD CREATED MAN in His image, after His likeness. One man began the human race. In his first generation, we read of murder. Sin had already swelled to that size. Within so many thousand years after this, the power of sin had corrupted all men. They were continually filled with violence. Except for one man, Noah. From one man, came all men, and amidst all men was one man.

One who had uncorrupted ancestors, none born of the giants, one who still worshipped God and heard His voice. From one who heard God's voice, Adam, came one who heard God's voice, Noah, although all those around him did not. And that man, Noah, was found righteous in God's eyes, and his family alone were saved upon the earth. Adam was the only man on earth at creation. Noah was the only righteous man on earth when commanded to build the ark, and all other men were condemned to die in their violence. 2 Peter 2:5 says Noah preached righteousness, but no one listened. Instead, they mocked him, “Crazy old coot.”

Jesus was one man born among many, one man, the Son of God, who died for many. Noah alone was saved from the flood which cleansed the earth. Jesus alone died so that all could be cleansed, and one day, make this earth new again. Adam lived on a new earth that sin corrupted, that the flood destroyed, that the life of God in the soil Resurrected.

Noah exited the ark and built an altar to worship. From the animals he'd saved on the ark, sacrifice came to recognize to the living God his family's deliverance. From the family of David, one Son of man, God in the flesh, died on an altar built from a tree, so that He could be Resurrected in three days. And with His Resurrection came God's life for all who would believe. A dead tree created a living one. Though the doubt of men put Him there, though they mocked Him, not seeing what was happening before them, God sent a flood of living water to them anyway, and from death ended the power of death.

Death entered through one man. One man survived death, and death was ultimately defeated by ONE MAN. And one day, that man, now King of Kings, will return, and all men will see Him. Those that love Him and those that don't. And the power that parted the water in order for Adam to live, that poured out the water upon Noah, in order for righteousness to live, that sent a stream outward, flowing from God's throne because of Jesus, one man, will one day renew the earth completely. In fiery glory, making of it, something grand and glorious, full of the life of God that one day, long ago, created one man, Adam, so that one man, Jesus, could redeem the world.

“And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.” (Genesis 2:15)

“But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.” (Genesis 6:8)

“For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.” (Matthew 18:11)
