| "Jesus didn't fight to obtain salvation." |
JESUS DIED and RESURRECTED to give us heaven and NOT to make us battle-ready. There isn’t a battle. There isn’t a war. There never was one. Jesus didn’t fight to obtain salvation. God was not lined up against those beings that He cast out of heaven. They fell because they sinned (Luke 10:18), and sin cannot live in God’s Presence.
They weren’t scattered where He couldn’t find them either. He knows every single one. They gained nothing by falling. All things come from God. All things are by Him and for Him (Colossians 1:16). Stand outside of Him, without Him, and there is only death.
This is a huge statement. It means spiritual death, being without life in the individual’s spirit. It also means death of wisdom. You have none. Death of love, joy, and peace. You have only hatred, anger, and violence. It means not knowing Truth but being consumed by lies. Jesus said this to the religious leaders who plotted His death. “He [Satan] was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it (John 8:44).”
Jesus died so that He would be the Lamb of God, whose sinless blood abolished death and destroyed sin (2 Timothy 1:10). He fulfilled the Jew’s covenant, the covenant of their father Abraham (Matthew 5:17), and established a newer one for all who would believe. There was nothing to conquer. Sin and death is not a being. They are behaviors. Consequences.
He fought no foe, physical or spiritual. In the Spirit, He has never died. Blood is physical. Obedience is mental. Spiritually, He has always, from the beginning, been God. John 1. He never submitted Himself to the devil. Never. He said to His disciples, “The prince of this world is judged (John 16:11).” That was not a compliment. To be the “prince” of sin is defeat. To be judged by the Moshiach is a bad thing. Jesus said, “For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment to the Son (John 5:22).” Jesus’ name is the name of all authority (Ephesians 1:21).
Of the name of Jesus, we must stop thinking of it as our ticket. What do I mean by this? Well, I was taught to use the name of Jesus against all evil, and so when my life went dark, I did what I’d been told. But nothing changed. The Spirit spoke, in that moment, and what He said confused me. He said, “Rest.”
To use anyone’s name as authority requires knowing them intimately. I can speak for ministry things at the office, where I work for my mother, because I know her well. She stands behind all my actions taken in her name. I do what’s needed then I tell her of it; and she supports all I’ve chosen to do. It is the same to use Jesus’ name. It is not and cannot be separated from Him. We cannot use His authority to do what He will not support. We cannot use it even where spiritual things are concerned, such as devils, until we’ve learned to walk in the Spirit, knowing His Voice. And to know His Voice is the same as speaking to anyone you meet. We will never say, “In Jesus’ name,” effectively, when we’ve never had a conversation with Jesus.
So when the Spirit said for me to REST, that meant He was going to do anything I needed. I could let go of the need to fight. And this is God’s heart for us. Jesus died and was Resurrected to make our life easy. He did all that was required for us to be saved. He did not take our place. We were not and have never been worthy. Our death spiritually was a consequence of sin. Our death physically is a consequence of sin. The only one who could die, sinless, and abolish death is God. That was the plan all along. Before the foundation of the world, Jesus was given a body, and ours were modeled after it (1 Peter 1:20; Genesis 1:26). He’s always been it, and there was no war ever needed.
The devil has been destroyed. Hebrews 2:14. The work of the devil, those devils that sinned with him, have been destroyed. 1 John 3:8. These 2 verses are the foundation of every other statement about Satan and devils in the New Testament (Matthew to Revelation). Anytime we think a verse means we’re in a war, we need to know that is wrong and ask God for revelation of it. This includes all prophecy of the “end”. So much, most of what is said, is WRONG. Much teaching on unclean spirits possessing a person is taken from the Gospels, which are events before Jesus’ death. Nothing is the same now. Nothing.
From the modern Jews’ teaching and worship, to the current time, called the “fulness of the Gentiles” in Romans 11:25, to the Second Coming of Christ, so much is fulfilled. And what devils could do, what the devil could do, he can’t anymore. Jesus rose from the dead, perfected (Philippians 3:21), with all of death beneath Him. Hell is God’s. Satan has never created anything, not a throne, not a kingdom, not a system of warriors. Not a battlefield. Not a war.
