Jesus Won.

IT WAS a gross depiction of a war between Christ and devils. Gross, disgusting. Gross, exaggerated. And, probably unlike others who saw it, I laughed and broke into the Looney Tunes intro. The actual Truth is more like a flea circus. Again, Looney Tunes. There was this muscular flea with an uncurling long ‘stash. Oh, I can see it in my head. And, also again, please not the Gentile Jesus depicted.

I saw a young man’s drawing of Jesus the other day, a new one, and Jesus stopped me, to stare at it. The Spirit is Jesus. We separate them in error. But the young man’s drawing of Jesus was Jewish. Very detailed and beautifully done. In agony, looking toward the cross. The gross video was not. It was supposed to be current.

Okay, here goes … WE ARE NOT IN A WAR! Sigh. Jesus won. By dying. He willingly laid down His life (1 John 3:16). There was no war, no battle, no battlefield, no weaponry, and no opposing army. There was NO HORDE OF DEVILS with any power behind them. The devil (Satan, which isn’t a name but a Greek word meaning “adversary”), the devil FELL like LIGHTNING, which does not depict any power he has, he fell like lightning FROM HEAVEN (Luke 10:18). BECAUSE he SINNED. And God said, “Out.” Whht. (A sound my mom has always said in humor.)

When Jesus rose from death, His mangled body made whole, “with his stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:5),” EVERYTHING CHANGED. Nothing, even seen in the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John), is the same. The depiction of unclean spirits there is past tense. They are destroyed now. 1 John 3:8. Everything Jesus did while He lived His humanity was so that we could see God. His care for men. His longsuffering. His great power. He is love. This was said so beautifully by a studying Jew. Speaking of sin in the garden, he defined the Hebrew word used when God sought Adam. The Scripture says they hid from God, and the speaker pointed out this was in shame. Then, He gave God’s nature:

• “The first words Hashem says to Adam after the first sin aren’t words of anger or condemnation. He doesn’t begin with, ‘Why did you do it?’ He asks, ‘Ayeka, Where are you?’ The greatest tragedy wasn’t the sin itself, it was the shame that followed. Shame convinces us that we’ve become our mistakes, that we have to hide until we’re worthy of being loved again. But that’s a lie. God’s first response wasn’t rejection, it was an invitation to come out of hiding. / Every one of us falls short. The question isn’t whether we’ve made mistakes; it’s what we do afterward. Do we hide behind guilt, perfection, and fear, or do we believe that God’s love is strong enough to meet us exactly where we are? ‘Ayeka’ isn’t a question of location, it’s an invitation back into relationship. No matter how far you’ve wandered, Hashem is still calling, ‘Where are you?’ because He wants you to come closer, not run away.” – yyjacobson

God’s VOICE was love. His VOICE is love. The “curses” that resulted from sin were not from God but the result of separation without God. And God’s action after speaking them was to sacrifice an animal. See this clearly: God made the first needed sacrifice to cover Adam’s shame, and He made the final needed sacrifice to cleanse ours. Jesus removed the curse of sin and death (Romans 8:2; Galatian 3:13), He destroyed the devil (Hebrews 2:14), and destroyed the works of the devil. 2 Timothy 1:10 says He abolished death. This is the same word translated “destroyed” in Hebrews 2:14.

NOTHING IS THE SAME NOW. We need to act like it.
