"His faithful nature is why we trust Him"

THE LORD’S PRAYER is a prophetic prayer that has been fulfilled in the death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus is the hallowed name. He brought the kingdom of God to earth in order to cause God’s will to be done here. He is our daily bread and the reason we are delivered from evil and forgiven (Matthew 6:9-15). There are many fulfilled prophecies in the Scriptures. God speaks, so that when we look back, we see His hand working. He wants our trust. Trust implies you are trusting someone. Faith, a more commonly used word in most translations, must include WHO we have faith in. Jesus stated this, recorded in Mark 11:22. “Have faith in God.”

The word “faith” is more of a conjunction. Like “and”, faith joins two things – us to God. We cannot speak about faith without our thoughts being of God’s faithfulness. Or, in the Remedy translation, God’s trustworthiness.

Having faith in God affects how we talk to Him. Do we speak like a child to a loving father? To Him as a friend and confidante? The analogy of husband and his bride is also given in the Scriptures, although that analogy is meant for CHRIST – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. They are CHRIST. And it is a love analogy and not a sexual one. But because a child trusts their father, they hold nothing back. We are not slaves imploring our master, simply to make an incorrect image. We are not subjects imploring the king either. This was said by a woman Jew, and it has stuck with me. She said, “G_d wants to be our Father.” How much we, the Gentile church, should see this. She learned that from Old Covenant.

Jews understand covenant in a way we do not and have faith in Hashem in a way we do not. God’s trustworthiness is our reason for faith in Him. His faithful nature is why we trust Him with our prayers. He never makes false promises, has no moodiness, never wavers in His goodness to us. He isn’t changed by circumstances. He knows all things and is far above them. No word He speaks returns to Him void, but it accomplishes what He has sent it to do (Isaiah 55:11).

“I give up everything this world has to offer so that I might be with Christ and be recreated in Christlike character—not from my own efforts or attempts to cure myself, not by observing some code, but by true re-creation of mind, heart and character that God accomplishes when we trust him. And this trust is established by the evidence of God’s supreme trustworthiness provided by Christ.” (Philippians 3:8-9, Remedy)

His love is sure. His Word is Truth. All prophecy is given for our exhortation, edification, and comfort (1 Corinthians 14:3). Where we’ve turned them into fear, we are wrong. The apostle John, a Jew, had a vision of the Jews to encourage the church of the surety of covenant, that Jesus never forgets a promise He’s made. And the biggest one is His people’s salvation. World Wars and Holocausts were way in the future then. He wanted them to know He has their lives in His hands. We must see in them, His suffering. The mocking of men, their wish for Him to die what was a cruel death is His equality with them in human flesh. And He gave no defense to what the soldiers and the people spat in His face (Isaiah 53:7). The Scripture says He learned obedience (Hebrews 5:8). He became King of the Jews, King of Kings and Lord of Lords in His complete sacrifice.

“Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;” (Hebrews 5:8-9)

For this reason, we can trust Him completely. I have even given Him my date of death. It came to me, while leaning on Him, that when He holds it, then I need not fear anything or anyone else. No one is more reliable, more faithful. More loving.

“Now, trust comes from our understanding with God, because he has demonstrated that he is trustworthy to fulfill what he has promised. And by trusting in him—the one who made the promises—we are confident of what we hope for, and are sure of what we do not yet see.” (Hebrews 11:1, Remedy)
