| "He is a son of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob." |
GOD REMOVED the curse of the Law. He didn’t remove the blessings. These are the fruit of the Old Covenant which Jesus fulfilled (Matthew 5:17-18). Fulfilled. Though Paul said the Old Covenant had been “done away with,” (Hebrews 8:13) what he meant was the needed actions of it, the sacrifices to cleanse of sin. One sacrifice was needed, and that was Jesus.
He is Jew. I say it this way so you can see He is all of who they are. And why they are. He is G_d who they worship. Though they do not use His given name, they see Him as living, as Redeemer and salvation (Isaiah 44:6). These are spoken of all through the Old Covenant. He is King, Prince of Peace, and Father in its words (Isaiah 9:6). He is who they pray to, and they know He answers with amazing wonders.
The blessings of Old Covenant Law are throughout the Word. If we see them and speak them for ourselves, we must see first they are Israel’s. It isn’t Jesus to stand on such as Psalm 23 and deny it to His family. He is a son of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. What we do to the Jews is pick them apart with our “revelation knowledge” without listening to what they are saying. There is as much error in the church as in Jewish studies. Thinking of miracles again, I have seen great blessings from their Rebbes. A child was instantly healed of a speech impediment after being blessed. A man’s unborn child was healed of a diagnosed disorder and born healthy. Some churches deny miracles.
Where we must always stand is with our feet planted firmly on God’s mercy. He is far, far more merciful than we have any idea. And also, we must accept our limited knowledge. There is always more to learn and great humbleness to admit this daily. Humility is very Jesus. God knows the heart of all men. He speaks to all men. And He is faithful to His promises, never altering or breaking His Word (Psalm 119:138). This is the bottom line.
When He promised Abraham his descendants would be as the stars in the heavens and the sand on the seashore, He meant that. When He promised Israel a land of milk and honey was theirs forever, He intended to keep His Word.
And when He promised them righteousness (Psalm 119:40), He fulfilled it.
“Behold, I have longed after thy precepts: quicken me in thy righteousness.” (Psalm 119:40)
“Thy testimonies that thou has commanded are righteous and very faithful.” (Psalm 119:138)
“Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is truth.” (Psalm 119:142)
