So That We Can Live

"All He does is so that we can live."

WE MAY NOT understand what God is saying when He says it, but I assure you He has our best good at heart. He wants us to be peaceful and happy. I remember a word He spoke to me, and nothing about it was true, nor did anything of what He said happen for quite some time. And so I did what others do, I got mad. Now, looking back, it is happening, just not like I thought.

We plan things. Our human minds want A, B, C, and D on the calendar. Me, personally, I like A, B, C, and D to be concise and simple. Complex is so not how I think. I’m not a list maker, per se, like others, but make it easy for me. And don’t expect fanfare. Less is more. But all of that is said so that you can see yourself. Our human mind wants to retain some control. Jesus is asking us to make Him … to keep Him Lord. That means humbling ourself continually and being content to live there.

We fight against this and so miss the affection behind His commands. All He does is so that we can live.

This goes to prophecy. 1 Corinthians 14:3 says prophecy is for our edification, exhortation, and comfort. 2 Timothy 1:7 says God is not fear. This means anything labeled prophecy which makes us afraid is either not God speaking, or our reaction of fear is our misunderstanding of God’s Words. God is peace (1Thessalonians 5:23). All He does, all He says, is to bring peace. Salvation, the recreation of the spirit man, is so we are full of life and peace (Romans 8:6). The Holy Spirit within us, inside, or upon us, outside, brings peace at all times (Galatians 5:22-23). We can rest, knowing every prayer is heard by Him. And every Word in His Good Book, including things spoken to Daniel and to the apostle John, about the future, is our reassurance of His control of all things. He is not violent. He is peace. We have peace.

“And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Thessalonians 5:23)

But obtaining it and holding onto it are our deliberate decision to believe God over anything else. We must choose to let Him decide the ending and not listen to our anger or fear. We must know Him so that we know what His ending will be. Not necessarily speaking of when, as in time, but His character, His methods, what He will and what He absolutely won’t do. All fear and doubt come from not knowing Him because when you do, you will rest assured. Here are His words to Israel in Isaiah 32:17. We, the Gentile church, are grafted into their promises, so I have taken these promises for my own.

“And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.” (Isaiah 32:17)
