"We are called to teach because we know God's VOICE."

WE ARE NOT called to teach God’s Word to spill our guts. The point of teaching is to speak what the Spirit wants to say. There are other “no-no’s” He wants us to avoid. Babbling, where we’re filling time, usually because we felt awkward. Exceptions, those things that could happen, maybe, to one person if all the negative factors line up. Negative factors themselves should be omitted. Intimate marriage talk, marriage counseling, which usually leads to heated voices, anger, and violence. Sexual topics are a strong NO. Name calling is as well. Only mention someone by name if it is positive and puts them in a godly light. God is NEVER going to call on you to destroy someone. Neither individuals, groups, churches, cultures, or nations.

We also shouldn’t teach doctrine we don’t understand. It will come out in our words that we don’t understand it. Prophecy is one example, including especially John’s Revelation. No one has this interpreted correctly, says the Spirit. Most teach it from a personal interest without learning its Truth from God and so repeat what they’ve incorrectly assumed.

Another: Don’t teach trivia the Word of God does not specifically address. We don’t know when dinosaurs were created nor where Cain got his wife. We are called to teach because we know God’s VOICE. Because we know His VOICE, we don’t say anything but what He’s speaking. We must never assume Truth. And we must avoid teaching which paints an incorrect image of God’s nature, character, and methods. Even as a joke, it isn’t funny.

God has a sense of humor. He laughs at things that would surprise you. I’m not trying to say to be stone serious. But I’ve heard jokes in the pulpit meant to make light of God that weren’t things He’d do or say EVER. The cross and the grave, His victory through death over sin, the destruction and judgment of Satan and devils, Jesus’ Resurrection, and the infilling of the Spirit at Pentecost are serious things to Him. The Jews are another. They are most precious in His eyes.

“The words that I have spoken did not come from me myself. They came from the Father, who sent me. He told me what to say. And he told me how to say it.” (John 12:49, EasyEnglish)

Our walk with Him through life is meant to be joyful, at peace, and EASY. He doesn’t want teaching to depict it any other way. Don’t teach life as a struggle. Jesus’ died to give us all we’d ever need, to give us all of Him, so that we’d forever be strong. Just read Romans 8 on repeat, and you’ll know this. Some pause here to ask, “Shouldn’t we address modern issues?” We should say what He wants said. And no more than that. We should be as familiar with WHAT to say and HOW to say it as Jesus was. (John 12:49, EasyEnglish) He spoke only the words of the Father, which Truth should make us think. That was Abba talking. And all He said was so people would know that moment in time, what Jesus had come to earth to do, was because He loves them.

This is the bottom line. Our words must look and sound like the love of God, willing to die so we forever be children of God.
