| "The altar call is people." |
THE WORK of the church is to spread the Gospel. Not to defeat Satan. Not to destroy devils. We are not armed for battle. We are not sufferin’ for Jesus, all godly victims of persecution. We are not here to stockpile goods for the fearful ending … that won’t come, by the way. Jesus’ victory was complete.
We are here to be the love of God and tell Jesus’ story. That’s it.
We are here to have an altar call. On the streets. Sean Feucht. In our services. In the prisons. In nations. This is the one thing of the past God wants brought back. While we’re looking for revivals and moves of God and the glory from heaven (all of that is the Spirit) things from ages past, He wants us to pray, one-on-one, with those who have asked Jesus to make them new.
The altar has been moved to the back of the building. To our cell phones. It’s now a QR code.
No, the altar call is people. It’s us loving them like Jesus does. It isn’t discipleship classes or small groups or prayer lines. It’s people becoming a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). And I’ll bet (because the Spirit has said it) that many don’t know what that means. It needs to be taught.
“Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” (John 3:3)
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things arer become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Man is a spirit (God is spirit, John 4:24), with a soul (Hebrew word for soul means mind, will, and emotions), living in a body. When the body dies, the reborn spirit man and the soul (thinking) go to heaven. This is why Jesus died. He provides salvation from being spiritually dead. He comes to live inside our spirit, running death out, and so we are full of Him and all He is. He is eternal Life. He is love and mercy. He is peace.
He is wisdom. He teaches us how to live, how to stop thinking like someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and heals us of all our bad habits, whether that’s in speech or behavior. We have to dedicate ourselves to it, but He is with us, Emmanuel, forever.
We are here as the church, Jesus’ church, grafted into the roots of Israel (Romans 11:17). We are not better than they are. That is not the attitude anyone should adopt. We have not replaced them in God’s eyes. Jesus is Jew. He is all they are and why they are. Our salvation is because He has included us in their salvation (John 4:22). Read that twice. They are not unsaved but accept salvation as they seek Him. This is His promise to them (2 Samuel 22:2-3).
We call Him Jesus. They call Him Hashem.
John 1:10. “He was in the world, and the world was made by him.” Jesus is God of Old Covenant. He is the sacrifice that fulfilled it (Matthew 5:17). He is Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the ending (Revelation 1:8,11). Not one word of all His promises has ever failed (1 Kings 8:56). Heaven is full of Jews. And Gentiles.
Let’s make sure people know how much God loves them.
“And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Acts 2:21)
“For I tell you plainly, Christ promised the patriarchs that he would bring the Remedy to heal humanity, and he came with the truth to the Jews as a humble servant and procured the Remedy, thus keeping his promise. And this same Remedy, brought by Christ to the Jews, has been made available to all humanity, and thus the Gentiles may glorify God for his mercy, as it is written: ‘Therefore I will reveal the truth about you among the Gentiles; I will sing the beauty of your character.’” (Romans 15:8-9, Remedy)
