| "He desires to be heard." |
WE ARE taught to walk in the Spirit, led of the Spirit. These are the instructions to the church in Galatians 5. There are levels of growth in us which apply to this. As we grow, we hear Him better. He desires to be heard. But I’m going to speak from the heart of God a word of Truth opposite of what many understand of this. There is said, by many, to be a “knowing” of His instructions, a nudge, if you will, that is not words. It is that you face a situation and He lets you know what to do without hearing His VOICE. I’m asking you to set this aside for your maturity. It does not come first, before hearing Him speak.
You cannot know His nudge without having formed a relationship with Him. “Him” being God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Too many haven’t heard His VOICE, and I’m talking about words and sentences of conversation, and so are making guesses and calling them certain. Until you spend time with someone, sharing thoughts, knowledge, you cannot speak for them. You cannot speak for me, just by reading these devotionals. Knowing OF someone, reading ABOUT them, doesn’t make you close friends. That comes with time, with interest, adoration.
And in that is another opposite I want you to embrace. Simply reading His Word gives you His intent, His plan of salvation, it does not give you intimate relationship. Many read it and don’t speak to Him. And don’t listen. It is the listening that unites us to Him. The apostle Paul spent three years listening, after his salvation. He spoke to no one but heard God speak of all that is written in his letters. No one told it to him, he says. He got it from God (Galatians 1:16). Without any written text to consult. We would look down on him today. The Word IS our foundation. All that God speaks will agree with it, but thinking again of such as John’s Revelation, he received that from heaven when he was “in the Spirit on the Lord’s day (Revelation 1:10).”
God would tell us things, personal things, things for our circle, things or the church, if we’d learn to hear and recognize Him. If He could trust us with the telling of them. If what we tell is what He said AND what He wants said. Prophet Hank Kunneman has said much of what God speaks to him, he does not share. This is how God has designed it. We must hear, first, hear well, second, and treasure what He says. This goes to the church and the Jews. G_d speaks clearly to His people. A Rebbe spoke healing over a mute child and minutes later, she spoke clearly. He then spoke freedom. “She will sing.” He knows the VOICE of G_d. Never think God isn’t speaking redemption through His people.
Never think He isn’t speaking. Don’t limit Him to sporadic words or a “knowing”. Seek Him and He will be found. Linger in His Presence for conversation, and the more you do this, the greater your hearing will be. The more certain what you hear.
