See Jesus

"Because condemnation doesn't come from Him. Salvation does."

YOU'VE GOT TO stop arguing with Truth, defending incorrect thought and doctrines of men. It feels good. You like it. So you allow it to remain. Surrender is so much better. When we surrender ourselves to God, we allow Him to erase all the untruth, all our anger and defense of it, and turn it into “exceeding abundantly above.”

We’re shortsighted. Narrowminded. We’ve packed our doctrine into a tiny, decorative box and refuse to allow God near it. What we need to do is set it aside and, in even the things we think we know, seek the Spirit. He will take what we’ve read 1,000 times and make it brand new.

But we’re so sure we’re right, we argue with Him instead.

We argue with people, and “love thy neighbor” becomes exactly what Jesus accused the Pharisees of doing. They’d taken Old Covenant Law and dismissed it to fit their traditions. Their habits. Instead of honoring their parents, they declared they’d given everything to the temple. “Sorry, Mom and Dad. I gave that to the temple.” (Matthew 15:6)

We can’t make excuses not to love WHOSOEVER Jesus died for. We can’t give into anger and hate and call it what Jesus said.

We must live as if we don’t understand everything and need God to guide us. We must live as if we might be wrong and lift our surrender to Him and allow Him to teach us. I’ve balked many times at what my Papa, the Spirit, said then argued my point. But when I laid down how I felt about it and saw Jesus, it no longer mattered what I believed. His love is so much greater. And worth it.

We call ourselves defenders of the Gospel. But God needs no defense. He knows us entirely, every word, every thought and motive. He knows all we’ve suffered and exactly why that one point of church doctrine is where we’re tangled up. He never gives up on us. Nor anyone else. You know, all those people we condemn. Because condemnation doesn’t come from Him. Salvation does. And it should be our heart, our inner man suffused with the love of God which was willing to become human, knowing He would have to die an awful death in order to be seen.
