GOD DOES NOT “get angry”. He does not “punish” anyone. Speaking of word choices. Those words are wrong. No one is in hell, the place of the absence of God (READ "The Fight Of Our Lives"), who did not fully and totally reject Him. No one desiring mercy is found there. His mercy is forever extended to the undeserving. God’s will is justice, true right. He sees all motives, knows all points-of-view, and does what is the most kindness.
We have Him all wrong. We’ve humanized Him, making Him act and react as we do. But we didn’t create Him. He created us, and Jesus died because He is so very kind and He would make us be like Him and stop being devils. Devils only speak lies. Nothing they say is Truth but always selfish and aimed to destroy. If they can build you up, and it kills you, they’ll do it. If they can tear you down, and it kills you, then so be it. It’s “whatever works.” God has no such desperation. He’s God. At no point has anything He’s done been at the whim of Satan or the works of Satan. Not His authority, not our human race, not redemption of it.
And this needs to also be said – we are not susceptible to devils. Their work has been dissolved (1 John 3:8). We can walk freely and know that because we are Christ’s, all lions and adders and dragons are crushed beneath our feet (Psalm 91:13).
“God is good and does good,” it says in Psalm 119:68. In Lamentations 3:22-23, we find out God’s mercies are new every morning. In Psalm 103:17, we learn “The mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him,” and this is a much wider statement than we, in Christian circles, have believed. We’ve largely made ourselves a sect, and denominations as sects within a sect, and excluded the world who Jesus died to save. I like to tell the story of Minister Dutch Sheets’ salvation. He said he was running from God, drunk in a bar called “The Boars Head”, when God spoke and said, “What are you doin’ here, son?” Minister Sheets says he replied without giving it thought, “What are YOU doin’ here?” God finds us wherever we’re hidden. We are never truly lost to Him.
I’m NOT telling you to alter what is salvation – the revelation and confession of Jesus Christ as Savior. I AM telling you to realize and accept we are woefully ignorant and am asking you to stop condemning people to hell who you know little to nothing about. Jesus pleaded for Judas, so compassionate was His heart (Mark 14:36). He took the thief, condemned to a cross beside Him, to Paradise that same day (Luke 23:43). How many more countless Jews and Arabs and Christians, how many more People we will find there is beyond our knowing.
But it is because God SO LOVED the world that He would give His only begotten Son to die. When Death had done all Death could do, Everlasting Life came. Death would never have the last word. God had declared it in the beginning.
“How blessed is God! And what a blessing he is! He’s the Father of our Master, Jesus Christ, and takes us to the high places of blessing in him. Long before he laid down earth’s foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love. Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure he took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the celebration of his lavish gift-giving by the hand of his beloved Son. Because of the sacrifice of the Messiah, his blood poured out on the altar of the Cross, we’re a free people—free of penalties and punishments chalked up by all our misdeeds. And not just barely free, either. Abundantly free!” (Ephesians 1:3-10 MSG)
“We want to tell you about the person who is God’s message to people. He is the person who gives people proper life. He was before the beginning of the world. We heard him speak. We saw him with our own eyes. We watched him and we touched him. He showed himself on this earth. We saw him and we are telling you about it. We are telling you that he is the person who gives eternal life. From long ago he was together with God the Father, and he has shown himself to us.” (1 John 1:1-2, EasyEnglish)
