I Trust In God

"He didn't end it. He felt it."

IT ISN’T that God hasn't done anything and watches us suffer. But that without Him, without what He's done, it'd be so much worse. Noah's flood for example. When God intervened, all the world … that’s the entire earth … was violent, chamas, (Genesis 6:11) except for Noah’s family. Only 8 people were righteous. The devil did that through sin, which had destroyed him. He has been judged by Jesus Christ and is no longer at work (John 16:11). I know you don’t totally believe that. But there’s no escaping “destroyed” in Hebrews 2:14 and “destroyed” in 1 John 3:8. The devil and the works of the devil have been destroyed. What is still at work on this planet is sin. Men and devils continue sinning. Jesus has abolished death, 2 Timothy 1:10, and provides forgiveness to any who will repent.

We see the Father’s will for the planet in John’s Revelation, chapter 21, verse 4. There will be no more sorrow or pain, no more death. The Father knows even the lives of the sparrows; He is so gentle and kind (Matthew 10:29). And Jesus is His Son. They are One with the Holy Spirit (He’s not a ghost.). John 17:21. From the Spirit, capital S, we bear fruit. Fruit comes because of the overflowing life in the tree. When the tree is at its healthiest, there is an abundance of fruit. Love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, assurance, meekness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). We are meant to be abundant. Minister Jesse Duplantis said of what he saw in heaven that it was like earth, and earth is “God’s taste.” How beautiful it must be then, for there is no death there. And there will be no death here.

Death has no fear in us now (Hebrews 2:15). Love has removed it forever (1 John 4:18). Because we belong to our loving Father, we know where we are going and can embrace this which is for only a time, that being the end of physical life. Knowing Jesus did the same and on a horrific scale. No one can say He does not know our pain.

Knowing it, then, why doesn’t God put an end to it now? Why the future date and what looks like turmoil? He didn’t end it. He felt it. He will end it and be love, whose breadth, and length, and depth, and height passes all knowledge (Ephesians 3:19). Turmoil is never from Him. Fear is never from Him (2 Timothy 1:7). Evil is never from Him (James 1:13). He is strength and understanding. He is love. He is peace.

What He wants of us here is to trust Him in all things. Even when we don’t get it. He wants us to do as Abraham did and throw all our eggs in His basket. To do as Mary, the mother of Jesus did, and Joseph, Jesus’ earthly father. They trusted God when no one could possibly understand what had been said. And Moses, who on repeat performed miracles by the power of God. And King David, who as a boy withstood a loudmouth giant. And Joshua who entered the Promised Land and used his entire lifespan to claim the land for Abraham’s seed. Who are now in number more than the sand on the seashore and the stars in the sky (Hebrews 11:12).

God is enough peace and safety, enough wholeness, for this time, this generation, and all that is ahead. But as I heard said by a wonderful minister recently, we cannot expect to “drift into” peace. We must take hold of it and say, “No, this is mine,” and follow in the ways of our heavenly Father who willingly gave His life to save ours.

He is eternal. Yet he died and rose again.
