| "All that Jesus is" |
ON TWO consecutive pages in my Grandpa’s old Bible, God is righteousness, Shepherd, goodness and mercy, King of glory, Lord of hosts, God of aalvation, and Redeemer. These are Old Covenant. Elsewhere, in Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy, I know He is Elohim, YHVH, and the names of YHVH – Jireh, Shammah, Nissi, Shalom. He is the Lamb slain. The temple. I AM. In Isaiah, He is Wonderful Counselor, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). And to Daniel, revelation. Jeremiah weeps for Him over Jerusalem. Malachi cries out Jesus’ payment as the tithe.
I came across a devotional by a Jew who spoke her heart of surrender to Hashem, what faithful worshiping Jews call G_d. And was touched and surprised. Because all that God is, she knew. All that Jesus is, she knew. Just not His name, Jesus. We have caused it. All Jewish testimonies of salvation I’ve seen, before their salvation, believed He is Catholic. Jonathan Roumie, who plays Jesus in “The Chosen” is a Catholic in love with Jesus. He speaks loudly to all of salvation. But what the Jews believe is years of Gentile hatred.
Jesus, Jew, was hung on the cross by Romans. It goes back that far. Mix in the Crusades, Germany in WWII, Spain in Christopher Columbus’ Day, and many other events around the globe, not to leave out modern church “turn or burn” theology, and it’s no wonder. We were wrong, and if you think Jesus is Gentile and Christian, then you are wrong. He isn’t. He is Jew. He is Christ, with the Father and the Holy Spirit. “Christian” is a word coined by those who hated the church. The apostle Paul murdered Christians and speaks of this (Acts 22:4). Then Jesus the Christ spoke to him from heaven, and he was forever changed.
We should know better. We should do better.
We are grafted onto their tree. They are natural. We are added in (Romans 11:24). For God SO LOVED the world. For Jesus FULFILLED the Old Covenant. His Words (Matthew 5:17). He saved them through its promises, and good, faithful worshiping Jews believe it. They see heaven in it. I see heaven in them. I see Jesus in them. If you don’t, you aren’t looking. Every video that comes in front of me has them singing and dancing. Faithful in their code of ethics, stalwart in front of persecution. Unafraid in it because God is theirs, and He keeps His promises. We doubt ours. We shouldn’t.
And we shouldn’t practice ethnic hatred and call it Christianity.
“For I tell you plainly, Christ promised the patriarchs that he would bring the Remedy to heal humanity, and he came with the truth to the Jews as a humble servant and procured the Remedy, thus keeping his promise. (9) And this same Remedy, brought by Christ to the Jews, has been made available to all humanity, and thus the Gentiles may glorify God for his mercy, as it is written: ‘Therefore I will reveal the truth about you among the Gentiles; I will sing the beauty of your character.’” (Romans 15:8-9, Remedy)
