| "We're only in 50%." |
CHURCH CULTURE has become outside of the Spirit’s work. What men consider necessary and okay to do aren’t His heart. Not sinful, necessarily. So we excuse it. But, as I say, if you had to look Him in the eye, you’d not go there.
Some of it is stuck in the past. Other is next generation. Both aren’t His doing. We must stop choosing from the flesh and the mind and popular opinion and stick to Truth, stay close to Him and what He’s doing now.
There are things He promised that have fallen aside because we didn’t pursue them. We chose what we did or didn’t desire, and in ignoring His promise, lost a moment in time. We don’t even regret this, but the change it has altered is all around us. How many have died of what He will heal? Many. And still we stumble on, saying we don’t understand. We preach faith as an object or a level to be obtained when what God wants is surrender. And surrender we don’t understand. We’re only in 50%. When it comes down to our personal habits, God is out.
I’ve stumbled upon this myself. There are things I enjoy that He’s had me give up, and being honest, I was a bit lost at first. Why did they matter to Him? And what do I do now? I trust Him and wait.
Waiting is hard for us. We’re an instant-healing mindset. But no healing is ever instant. Every person suffers until they discover what’s going on. Everyone must choose to accept or deny medical care. I’m at the point where I do not have to go. This is both because of medically what happened to me and because I know God is better. I trust Him. That doesn’t mean everything was easy. I’ve had to stick it out, and here is what God the Father desires. He’s given us patience, but we don’t exercise it. And the only way to exercise it is to be, well, patient. Patience is endurance in peace and fortitude (that’s strength of character).
Jesus sets our example. He talked of His pending death on repeat. Men didn’t understand it. But can you imagine knowing the awfulness you’d endure and yet patiently waiting? I’ve seen His heart on this. It’s not painful anymore, but there are moments when He’s tender. President Trump’s declaration of May as Jewish American Heritage Month (https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2026/05/jewish-american-heritage-month-2026/) touched Him greatly. How do I know this? He’s Jesus, after all. We’ve spent much time together, that’s how. And the more we do, the more I press in, the more I see the Spirit’s heart in the church is not where we are at right now.
We’re consumed by fear. Of government antics. And there’s no need. Jesus is King here, and He’s not concerned. Of nations. He knows all men and is at work, ever present in His people, both the Jews, Israel, and God’s children. Of crises. Who did God rescue? The earth. The world. And Jesus’ victory over death is completed. So when we don’t understand and can’t forsee the result of the happenings around us, we must lean in and walk in the Spirit with every word, in every breath. Not 50% but 110%. There’s always more to see.
