"Because God isn't violent."

YOU CAN lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink. This thought talks of devils, not people. Although, the behavior is the same. A violent person is consumed with the same power, kratos, vigor or intensity, of death that consumes Satan (Hebrews 2:14). We like to blame their behavior on unclean spirits, and often it is, but often it is simply the intensity of death.

Devils cannot be changed. One, because God didn't die for them. They cannot be cleansed by Jesus. The Holy Spirit won't allow it. Most don’t believe Jesus is real, for that matter. This comes because they sinned and were cast out of the Light. They aren’t allowed to remember heavenly things but lost all of their created being because they sinned. They flee from God’s Presence because the power of God isn't understood. The Truth is, when violence becomes comfortable there is no desire to change. Can God give them the desire? Sure. Will He? No. The end is written.

The end is misunderstood because God isn’t violent. Our failed human thinking (without Christ in our thinking, we sin) pictures a battle to end all battles, and Jesus with a mighty sword. There will be a tremendous bloodbath, we think. No, there won’t. That’s not who He is. He dealt with death by dying. He committed Himself to it, then rose to life again. He has already proven He prefers peace. His Father declared it in the voices of His angels at Jesus’ birth. There will be peace on earth and His goodwill to men (Luke 2:14). His Spirit grows the fruits of love and joy and peace in us (Galatians 5:22) and has stated many times He is shalom. Isaiah 32:17 says that righteousness is peace, and its effect on us and in us and from us is quietness and assurance.

What of the end then? We need to trust God. That’s both the foundation and the period on John’s Revelation. What does it say about Jesus? How does it picture Him? What does it show us of the throne room? And what happens to death? These are what matter. The rest is to look back on in fulfillment of it, and at that moment, for understanding to come. We must read it and listen to the Spirit and refuse to guess. Anything not directly stated must be kept in our thinking as our thinking. Because no one has it interpreted 100%.

Prophecy is meant to edify, encourage, and comfort. 1 Corinthians 14:3. These words are definitely stated and in that order. It is not meant to frighten people, to make fun of people, or even as correction. The Father does correct His children but never in public or at another person’s expense. He NEVER uses prophecy to criticize. He is love on a higher scale that we have realized. He gave me a glimpse of the extent of His love, twice on two mornings, and I’ve never been the same. It is this heart, His heart, that speaks prophecy. Personal words, churchwide words, or prophecies of nations, all come from the generous heart of a loving God who extends forgiveness of all sin to any who believe it.

And greater, the words of John’s Revelation, prophetic words, are not “done to us.” We don’t suffer them. Suffering only comes through ignorance of who God is. Instead, He walks with us through every day from today and into eternity. He isn’t way up high over us looking down but is IN US forever and guiding every event which surrounds us. He wasn’t lackadaisical and suddenly woke up and realized all men were violent except Noah. He was longsuffering, unwilling to harm anyone until all around these few righteous was only violence (chamas). The timing of the flood shows His patience, not His anger. And the salvation of those eight souls, how far He will go to rescue. Afterward, He made the earth a promise. There, too, is His nature. There’d be no more flood because there’d be no need for one (Genesis 9:9-11). He would make sure righteousness spread far superior to sin.

This must be center in our view of what spins around us. That God is bigger, that He is specific and detailed, and His love outweighs all we come up against. Raise your vision higher. Don’t tolerate evil (Romans 12:9). Make living well, living holy, how you honor Him and don’t give place to the dissolved works of the devil (1 John 3:8).

“And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you; And with every living creature that is with you, of the fowl, of the cattle, and of every beast of the earth with you; from all that go out of the ark, to every beast of the earth. And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.” (Genesis 9:9-11)

“Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.” (Romans12:9)

“Neither give place to the devil.” (Ephesians 4:27)

“He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.” (1 John 3:8)
