The Best Memories

"The aftermath of His struggle has been healed."

WE REMIND JESUS of His past constantly. The very worst hours of His greatest pain are described every minute of the day by someone. If that were us, we'd collapse inwardly. We say to this, "But this is Jesus." And, yes, it is, and, yes, He is God, but what we need to see is healing. That the mental turmoil, the aftermath of His struggle, has been healed.

We know His body is healed because He stood before His disciples whole. Those who talked with Him on the road to Emmaus didn't recognize Him until He broke bread (Luke 24:30-31). Thus means He had no holes in His hands nor scars on His forehead. Mary thought He was the gardener who cared for the tombs (John 20:15). She didn't know Him either. In contrast, it is interesting that He bid the disciples, when He appeared among them in the closed room, to see His hands and feet and put their hand in His side. But know this, Jesus rose from the dead without scars, without injuries. Including mental ones.

It is God’s will, and more than that, His heart, to heal mental trauma. He wants to do more than help us live with memories. He longs to bring complete peace. Shalom, which means well-being. He wants to restore brain function. He healed mine. I was diagnosed with frontal lobe atrophy, shrinking of the brain as the results of migraines, and from that day to this, I haven't had a single headache.

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” (Romans 12:2)

God is the Renewer of our mind. It is not our self-effort but our trust in Him to do what we cannot. We must know His love for us, how truly great it is, and that it comes with no berating, no shaking of His head, no disappointment in whatever condition we're in. I discovered, through my own healing these years, I can just be me, errors and all. I must keep pressing higher, keep leaning on Him, and say I'm sorry when I mess up. But He is the most gentle doctor. Jesus is a loving Healer and King.

His courage under pressure is our strength. That He stands whole and at peace is our healing example. And His hand outstretched is our continual hope of recovery. Never give up, my friend. Set down your exhaustion and all you don't understand and take hold of Him. His Words never fail.

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5)

“That's how it is with my words. They don't return to me without doing everything I send them to do."
(Isaiah 55:11 CEV)

“And we know that in all things, at all times, in all circumstances, God works for the good of his creation and for the good of all who love him. Those who have accepted God’s call—to work with him according to his purpose—experience the good things that God has for them.”
(Romans 8:28, Remedy)
