| "God felt pain for us." |
WE WANT GOD to be everyday, but He isn’t. He is far above, exceeding, and greater than everyday. He is IN our everyday and WITH US and FOR US in everything, but to make Him ordinary is to take away who He is. When you spend time with Him, you know this for sure. Often, we WORSHIP Him but don’t truly KNOW HIM as face-to-face.
God is WEIRD. He does things in unusual ways so that only He could do them. Our salvation is the biggest example. He did what He did for honor alone. Just because it mattered to Him. And He did it in the way most difficult for Him and at the greatest pain. God felt pain for us. That should sit us upright. We were and are the beat of His heart.
It was NOT a war with Satan or devils. God has nothing to prove to them besides how stupid they were for sinning, and I say it that way, speaking specifically of fallen angels and not sinful man. Man was made in God’s image to be His likeness. Angels are a display of His glory. These are not the same thing.
God did not die on a cruel cross to submit to the devil. He had nothing to purchase BESIDES OUR HONOR. Jesus’ blood was shed so that we could be His again, so that our everyday could be incredible, and in the end, so that death could die. This is decreed in Revelation 21:4. THE ENDING God has decreed is not war, not a bloodbath of evil against good. All has been accomplished in Jesus’ Resurrection. He died as the Lamb of God. He was alive in the Spirit, after death, as King of Kings. He rose as Healing. God took Jesus’ broken, destroyed, decaying body and made it perfected (Philippians 3:21). Knowing that, we know we are healed.
I had the Father speak to me, one afternoon, about the sparrows. He spoke of a bird at one of my feeders, saying, “She has many offspring.” Hearing it, I wept. That He would tell me, that He would demonstrate His Word so clearly (Luke 12:6). He is so gentle and kind. Not angry, not wrathful, not wreaking vengeance as we’ve pictured it. We’ve got to put down our swords and see that His Word is OF THE SPIRIT. We speak, but the Spirit works. We’ve pictured it wrong. We’re taking all the steps, and He’s backing us up. No, we’re following in His footsteps.
Our Savior is so good to us. We’ve made Him distant, as in the psalms, where the psalmist calls out to a God “over there” (Psalm 139:2). But our God is WITHIN US. We’re now speaking to Him near to us (Philippians 4:5) and that changes everything. Knowing He is GREATER THAN ORDINARY takes our everyday and makes it doable. Makes it incredible. It asks of us to set our ideas of Him down and open our hearts to what He would do FOR us and IN us that we do not expect. Like an old man and woman conceiving a child at 90 and 100 years of age, a child who would become a nation, more than the sands on the seashore (Genesis 22:17).
“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,” (Ephesians 3:20)
“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:” (Ephesians 6:17)
