Forward Motion

"God is unchanging."

WHEN I SIT DOWN or go in reverse, when I have doubts to unanswered questions, God keeps moving me forward. Time keeps going ahead, and progress continues as long as I’m committed to it. I can balk for good, but I’m all about looking around me, gazing back only to see if there’s anything worth it. There isn’t.

Twice now, I’ve assessed life without Jesus. Yes, you heard me. Like an author discovering the plot, I made a mental chart, not out of depression but factual, and I found without Christ, there’s nothing. Nothing. He’s all of everything and every drop of joy in me. So there’s no refusing God’s plan, no denying He has one, and no staying where I’m at. Even when I sit for a time, I’m moving because God won’t stop tugging. And that’s what I want you to see.

God is unchanging. Now, He likes to do things in ways that only He could do them. Only God could die like Jesus did and save the world. Him being God is the point. But there’s the plagues of Egypt, there’s Abraham and Sarah having Isaac at an old age, there’s countless battles where not a shot was fired but the enemy heard a weird noise and ran. Then there’s me. There’s you. God’s still saving, still rescuing, and He’ll go to an infinite degree to do it.

He gave all in Jesus. He’s giving all today, again and again. When we meet Him, when we take time to know Him, then love’s the result. I’m in love. He’s in love. So I know all my trip-a-trip-a-tripping (a Daffy Duck thing), is already forgiven. Jesus sees me and knows me. He’s patient and kind.

“I press forward, constantly toward the goal of Christlike perfection—one day to experience the ultimate prize for which God has called me heavenward—the joy of seeing him face to face.” (Philippians 3:14, Remedy)

“I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:14)
