FOR Us.

"We don't expect enough from Him."

STOP THINKING GOD ISN’T ON YOUR SIDE. God is always on your side. He is never NOT on your side. The Spirit’s silence is vastly misunderstood. It is said in 1 Kings that He is not an earthquake or a fire but, instead, a still small voice (1 Kings 19:12). Yet, even greater, He often says nothing at all. We make all kinds of human assumptions – He’s angry, He’s waiting on us to understand, He’s disciplining us.

But:
  • He isn’t angry. He is love.
  • He won’t wait “for us to understand.” He will explain everything. Jesus said He would teach us all things (John 14:26).
  • He can be discipline, but you will know it.

We must contrast the devil and many devils. They are all talk. See Satan inhabiting the snake in Genesis IN ORDER TO TALK. See Jesus silencing unclean spirits in the gospels because THEY HAD TO TALK. And what did Jesus say of Satan? That he is the father of lies (John 8:44). These are SPOKEN words. The word “devil” itself means “false accuser.” In Job 1, Satan accuses Job of not being faithful to God. In Revelation, he is said to accuse the brethren day and night (Revelation 12:10). The Holy Spirit is only going to talk when it is required, and when He speaks, He speaks in sentences and always gives explanation.

We don’t expect enough from Him. That seems like a wrong statement, but I’ve discovered He’s far more tolerant of our foibles than we trust Him and desires to speak conversations with us far more than we’ve been taught. He isn’t IN US, (we are His temple, 1 Corinthians 6:19), just to “make us saved.” We’re supposed to live between heaven and earth. We have to determine to grow to that point. Though we start as babies, at salvation, through study of the Word, through time spent in prayer (conversation), and by learning to walk fully in touch with God’s Spirit each day and each night, we become more aware of Him. We learn His Voice.

We learn Jesus’ Voice and the Father’s Voice. Because they all three will speak and sound different. They are perfectly united. They never have to “check with each other first.” They know all things and are in unity of thought, but they are THREE in ONE (1 John 5:7).

There is no height of knowledge we reach, and we know all They do, but with each height, we see such an amazing view. Psalm 139:6 in the Remedy Translation says this beautifully. “The full knowledge of you is too immense for me; you are infinite, and I cannot comprehend it.” Then in verse 17 of the King James Version it says, “How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!” Some translations say, “Your thoughts OF me,” and that is what we marvel at. That our God so great would think of us so often. Us as individuals.

Does God think of me continually? That’s the implied thought. And the truth of it is, He thinks of us so much that His love for us consumes Him. He is always FOR US, always good TO US at all times; He is always WITH US.

“What, then, can we possibly say in response to this? Don’t you realize that God is on our side? And if God is for us, who can be against us? God does not need convincing to be good to us; No! It is we who need convincing that God is good to us! If he did not withhold his own Son—but gave him up for us all—don’t you realize that he will withhold nothing good from us? But along with his Son, he will give us all things that are for our good!” (Romans 8:31-32, Remedy)

“Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” (Matthew 1:23)
