As God

"It is that Jesus is God and was on the earth as God, that made Him the perfect and final sacrifice."

THERE IS NO REASON to air personal opinions in replacement of God’s Truth. God’s self-control in us mutes our opinion in favor of only speaking Truth. There’s no reason to defend ourselves if we’re only speaking Truth. Problem is, it feels good to say what we want (and it being funny doesn’t make it appropriate). Jesus didn’t speak HIS OPINION; He spoke GOD’S OPINION.

“Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.” (John 14:10)

“But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.” (John 14:31)

There is a thought taught in the church that says Jesus was God when He lived on earth, but He didn’t operate as God. The idea behind the thought is He relied upon the Holy Spirit to do healings and miracles. This part is Truth. But the other adapted conclusion is not. Jesus was indeed God on this earth in every fashion. He simply limited Himself in power in order to do the will of God. (I find it interesting that in order to become an infant, He gave up His memories, but now has them restored (John 17:5).)

There are many Scriptures to substantiate this. The temptation in the wilderness is one of the greatest. We are told the Spirit led Him there in order to be tempted (Luke 4:1). Not Satan. This is important to know because Jesus was filled with the Spirit without measure (John 3:34), yet Satan questioned if He was God. Notice in this, the Scripture gives us Jesus’ replies, all of which are Him pointing fingers to Himself as God. He knew He is the Word of God and the Lord thy God. “Thy God” meaning God of Satan as well as mankind.

“And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.” (Luke 4:4)

“And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.” (Luke 4:8)

“And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.” (Luke 4:12)

Another example is Jesus walking on the water. The reason He walked on water and did not drown was because He had come to die on the cross. It was not possible to kill Him (John 14:30). He had to lay down His life (1 John 3:16). He was (and is) Christ, the Anointed One. The Anointed One will never be without anointing. Even before His baptism, like John the Baptizer (Luke 1:15), He was surrounded by the Holy Spirit, who is the Breath of the Father. Jesus is God’s Son in every way possible – spiritually, genetically, and in thought and action. They are ONE, perfectly UNITED, and cannot and were never separated.

“I and my Father are one.” (John 10:30)

It is that Jesus is God and was on the earth as God, that made Him the perfect and final sacrifice of the Old Covenant Law. A man had to die to fulfill it (animals have no spirit man), and no other man could BUT God. To take away His fullness and relegate Him to a survival-of-the-fittest human is to remove the power of the cross and the Resurrection. GOD HIMSELF came to earth. Salvation is available because GOD DID what was required. It was GOD’S HONOR at stake. God paid the price of honor to return to Himself what was His. This is the Hebrew word “redemption”.

God set the rules. He’s who made our rescue require Jesus’ sacrifice. He’s who made it so specific to obtain. So impossible. God intended to be salvation from before He created the world. Jesus’ body was “foreordained” (1 Peter 1:20). This is a big word meaning “to know beforehand.” Before sin, God warned Adam not to sin (Genesis 2:17). Before death, He created seeds to fall into the earth and die (John 12:24). Because He alone is Life.

“In him was life; and the life was the light of men.” (John 1:4)
“And the light shines on in the darkness, and the darkness has never put it out.” (John 1:5 ISV)

“Jesus is the physical manifestation of the invisible God—the first being to leave infinity and manifest in physical form, and the conduit from which all creation flowed. For he created everything: the entire universe, the heavens and all galaxies, angels and all intelligent life, things visible and invisible. All authority and power stem from him, and everything that exists was created by him. He existed before anything, and it is he who holds all things together.” (Colossians 1:15-17, Remedy)
