| "Stop fighting a war that God won." |
WE ARE NOT IN A WAR. Our only battles nowadays are in our mind. Darkness is here until the Spirit of God removes it (Revelation 21:4), and on that day, we will see these things as we should.
We are not in a war. Jesus de-feeted the devil forever. He left no part of that loser behind to torment us. When we talk as if He did, saying things like “the devil said to me”, then we give him place (Ephesians 4:27). “Resist the devil” comes after “Submit yourself to God (James 4:7).” It is the submission, making Jesus Lord and Master in all ways in our life, that takes away the devil’s “place” in us.
We are not in a war. We are told in Hebrews 4 to rest. God rested on Day 7 so that Jesus could rest on the Sabbath and rise from the dead on Day 1 (Mark 16:20. Our Sabbath is every day. Our worship is continual and for ever.
“There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.” (Hebrews 4:9)
Spiritual warfare is preached, and I get it … Of all people, I get it. I have fought the battle for my life … But what rescued me was rest, was embracing peace and letting go of our human need to argue and war and fight. That’s what evil births in us. James 3:16 says strife breeds confusion and every evil work. It says earlier in James that God never tempts us with evil (James 1:13). On every other page of God’s Word, we’re told God is peace. The angels announced it at Jesus’ birth (Luke 2:14).
Stop fighting a war that God won. He’s already conquered it all. Anything less than complete victory isn’t like Him. Do you honestly think Jesus died such an agonizing death in order to use the devil for His purposes? Or the alternate incorrect theology, that Jesus died physically and was tortured by Satan for three days. No! He destroyed him, rendered him useless, Hebrews 2:14, and destroyed, dissolved, all his works, 1 John 3:8. There’s nothing left of him to fear (2 Timothy 1:7). Nothing!
“Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;” (Hebrews 2:14)
“He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.” (1 John 3:8)
We are not in a war, but as long as you choose to fight it, in you, it will continue in you. I’m done fighting for what Jesus obtained. Honorable, wonderful, King Jesus did it all. Then He gave us His authority, exousia, and His power, dunamis, in the Presence of the Holy Spirit (John 14:16), and Himself as a weapon (Ephesians 6:17). “For what?” you ask. Why do we need a weapon if there is no war? Because the battle in your mind ends with the peace of God in you. But you have to put it there. You have to choose the Word over criticism and talk of defeat. You have to SEE JESUS REIGNING and keep yourself where He is. Pressures come from all around us to think the wrong thing, to do the wrong thing. God is our constant reminder that there is nothing to fight. Not anymore.
“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” (Luke 10:19)
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” (Romans 12:1-2)
