| "... the healing of His body through the power of the Spirit provides our healing." |
JESUS SUBMITTED His body to physical death (John 10:17-18). Jesus submitted His soul (mind, will, emotions) to allow physical death. Jesus was alive in spirit, being full of the Holy Spirit. His spirit was then, when on the earth, and is now united with the Holy Spirit, without measure (John 3:34). He was and is completely and forever united with Him in spirit. There could be and can be no spiritual death in Him.
He is our example. In the eyes of the Father, we have died with Him. In the eyes of the Father, we have been Resurrected.
Jesus died a gruesome death. His body was mutilated beyond belief, internally and externally. Yet after His Resurrection, He ate and drank, walked and talked, without any deformity or physical troubles. Jesus’ body was healed and brought back to life. Jesus’ soul was rewarded for His anguish (Isaiah 53:11-12). We are told, because of the joy set before Him, He endured the cross (Hebrews 12:2). The Spirit of God sustained Him during His crucifixion and healed Him of the grief and sorrow upon His Resurrection.
Now, we know—By His stripes we ARE healed. By His stripes we WERE healed (Isaiah 53:5;1Peter 2:24). Why? How can this be? How does what He suffered provide us with healing?
Because just as the life of His Spirit gives us eternal life, the healing of His body through the power of the Spirit provides our healing. We live in SPIRIT because He is ALIVE in spirit. We are restored in our SOUL (mind, will, and emotions) because He was rewarded for His suffering and experienced the joy and peace He looked forward to. We are healed in BODY because He was healed and is made whole. What was done to Him, as the firstborn from the dead, is now ours to experience (Revelation 1:5-6).
Furthermore, we will be Resurrected, and our bodies will be made glorious just like His (Philippians 3:20). This is the promise of the Father, shown to us by His gift to us of His Spirit, the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13-14). The Holy Spirit in us is our proof that it will happen. The same power that raised Christ from physical death and mental turmoil lives in you and me (Romans 8:11).
“Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.” (1 John 4:17)
