He Will Do It

"We choose to believe God will do EVERYTHING, and we commit ourselves to the healing timeline."

YOU GET to the point where you can’t take another disappointment. Like the year we repaired our A/C, our septic, our well, and in December, for my birthday nonetheless, someone busted out my rearview window. I actually laughed. The point where it’s almost comical, and now, you’re rolling your eyes at the devil. At least, I do. It’s like a simple hangnail becomes toe rot, and you’re so over it.

OVERTHINKING is a huge issue when dealing with doubt. I remember one minister told of being in a service one night, and her mind wandering until she was two weeks out unable to get somewhere. You know how that is, then you wake up and realize how dumb you’re being. I’ve found it goes to the extremes, too. There’s death staring up at you for time number 50-pazillion, and you just shrug and get a candy bar.

Insert here my usual words about the devil in our self-talk. He isn’t in our self-talk except we keep talking like he’s there. Jesus trounced him for good in every way possible. I have to say that, so you won’t think I’m slipping. No siree, Bob. Anywho …

It can be a good thing when you’re no longer afraid of pressures. Barring the weird episode of some crime drama that paints it wrong, we are not supposed to ever be afraid. EVER. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but His Spirit of love, Resurrection power, and a SOUND MIND (2 Timothy 1:7). There’s more, there’s more … We have a SOUND MIND. (Said that!) We also have a RENEWED MIND (Romans 12:2). That’s a mind healed of all the junk from sin and failure and condemnation. Woot. Woot. Then we have a PEACEFUL and QUIET MIND. This is God’s promise in Philippians 4:7. I love the Green Living Translation. (Okay, that’s what my family calls it because it’s in a green leather cover.)

“If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7, TLB)

“If you do this” referring to verse 6 which says not to worry and to pray instead. We can also throw in SHALOM, which is complete well-being. It covers any need we have spiritual, mental, financial, in our health. God never just does one thing and leaves us with the rest. He always does a complete work (Philippians 1:6). When we believe it. To believe is to “have faith” is to “trust in God”. These are all the-same-thing. (I cannot help but use a Christian comedian’s tone of voice in saying that. It’s one of my favorite funnies (Greg Mohr choice of word)). We choose to believe God will do EVERYTHING, and we commit ourselves to the healing timeline. Oh, that sounds official! It simply means God’s timing.

God knows what is best for us, where time is considered. He will do it all, and we will be able to enjoy it and not trip over it again. That’s really the bottom line today. Not tripping. Over the devil doormat, nasty thing, or God’s holy time clock. TICK TOCK. And instead being strong and confident in what He’s promised to do.

He will do it.

“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:” (Philippians 1:6)

“And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power.” (Colossians 2:10)
