Always Moving

"The same power that forgives also heals."

►THE HOLY SPIRIT is not about to move. There isn’t about to be a big outpouring. We aren’t lingering to see Him enter the room.

►JESUS already proved salvation always includes total forgiveness and complete healing.

As to the Spirit, He has been moving since He was breathed into the apostles, and they became new creatures (John 20:22). This is why Thomas doubted. He was not there that day and so He was not yet saved when they told him about it. The Holy Spirit did not yet live in his heart. The new life the others had, he didn’t have yet. The Spirit has been in the room since then and made His first “move” in the upper room, appearing as tongues of fire (Acts 2:1). As my mother once said, He isn’t in a lounge chair. He’s working.

“And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:” (John 20:22)

He lives in us. He has come upon many. Personally, I want all of Him. I want Him to live in me and to recreate my spirit man, which happened when I accepted Him into my heart, and I want Him to come upon me as well and so to have power over my body as well. I am totally submitted to Him, and that saved my life. When I prayed in the Spirit, the ears of darkness had no idea what I was saying.

The Spirit will not come in you or upon you until you ask. He’s gentle and polite.

Jesus was in a crowded room when the roof tiles opened up and four people lowered a man in front of Him. They knew Jesus would heal him. But what Jesus did right then was not what anyone expected. He told the man he was forgiven. The Pharisees and religious men got all upset. “Who does this guy think He is?” Jesus didn’t miss a beat. “Just to show you I have power to forgive sins AND to heal …” Then He turns to the man with the palsy and says, “Rise and walk.” (Matthew 9:1-6)

The same power that forgives also heals. You can’t plug in a refrigerator and only allow the electricity to work in one part and not the other. If you plug it in, the ice machine will work and so will the vegetable drawers. The power of God is the Holy Spirit. He forgives and cleanses the heart. He heals the body and gives peace to the mind. When you plug in to Him, you can have all that He will do.

He is patient and kind (1 Corinthians 13:4). He is love (2 Timothy 1:7). He works in the way that is best for you so that you will receive all of Him. If you allow Him by making Him Lord. Jesus is Lord. Jesus called the Father “Lord”, and the Spirit is also Lord.

And He is always working. He is always moving. He is present everywhere on this globe and in the atmospheres of heaven. Even in the places where He isn’t wanted, He is there. Psalm 139 tells us you can’t escape His Presence. He is the Presence of God. These are inseparable and, though He can be felt, He is usually not felt. Or heard. But the more you listen, the more you submit and follow His wishes for you and let go of your own, the more of Him you will hear and see.

So what are we doing in a church service when we make these statements? Because He is in each child of God, so He is always in the room. He wants us to focus on Jesus, to worship Jesus, and know the written Word front and back, inside and out. It is Jesus’ Voice, what He would say, and not one Word of it ever fails to be accomplished (Isaiah 55:11). Do you know why? The Holy Spirit is a constant power. In fact, He is the life in all things. What does it say in Genesis about the creation of man? He breathed in him the breath of life (Genesis 2:7). Woman was then created from the place of man’s breath. From the Spirit came all things.

From Jesus came all things. He is the Word of God which was at the beginning, and He is the image of the Father.

God wants us to know the Truth and to speak Truth, not relying on our own wisdom. He is Truth. He wants us to know Him, and to know Him so well we rely on Him for everything, for in Him is liberty. The first step we must take is to be aware of the meaning of what we say and to correct it. He is not looking for our mistakes. That isn’t what I mean at all. But to call a turkey a chicken is wrong anyway you say it. We don’t have to wait for God to move. He is moving in us and through us.

Separating salvation into parts isn’t correct either. Jesus did a complete work through the heart of the Father, who SO LOVED us, a life spent in the power of the Spirit, who is the evidence of all God will do for us from now and into eternity (Ephesians 1:14). Both the amazing forgiveness of salvation and the healing of salvation are available to us. We simply have to trust Him and rest.

“Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” (2 Corinthians 3:17)

“For there is one Body and one Spirit as you were called for the one hope that belongs to your call—one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over us all, who pervades us all, who is within us all.” (Ephesians 4:4-5, Moffatt)
