| "Take it all to Jesus and let it go." |
PUT DOWN your request, set aside your need, and spend time with Jesus. Just soak Him in. Don’t ask for anything, don’t worry about anything, turn loose of your frustrations and everything you don’t understand. Just worship.
There is a word we use a lot in worship whose meaning will change your intent. We say, “He is worthy,” and we know this. He IS the most worthy. But when I looked that word up on dictionary.com, it said “characterized by usefulness or importance, as to the world, to a person, or for a purpose.” Read that again.
There is no better definition. He is worthy. If we’re hurting, if we’re dead broke, if our kids are sick, if our marriage just fell apart, if our church is going through something, if that pastor said the wrong thing, if our job just tanked, if our education isn’t all we thought it would be, if the dog isn’t feeling well, if there’s fire ants in the garden … whatever it is that’s eating at you CONCENTRATE for a while on how worthy He is.
Read the Word with the same intent. Set down all that you know, all that you’ve been taught, and let the Holy Spirit bring it to you afresh. That more I learn to do this, the more awesome things I see.
The more in love I am.
My husband brings these mini-Jesuses home. I had three, and the other day, I discovered I’m up to 7 now. They make me smile and remind me of who He is. Jesus is joy. He’s not worried about the nation, the weather, or the devil. No, He trounced that fool for good. He isn’t sitting on the throne squeezing His hands, begging the Father to help us. He’s enjoying all the blessings God’s given Him for His victory over death. And He’s calling us to rejoice with Him.
He's overflowing with love that has no measure, no shoreline, no depth or height. He’s mercy without ending, extended forever, on our behalf. But as long as we’re looking at the problem, as long as the devil remains in our vocabulary, we’re not going to see what sets us free. It isn’t that God isn’t enough, that we don’t have our spiritual act together, and even if we don’t and there’s a few wrinkles to smooth out, the point of this post is to take it all to Jesus and let it go.
Let go of trying to measure up. Let go of trying to suppress emotions that you simply can’t seem to overcome. Let go of figuring out the ending, or the next step. Let it all go and make Him everything. The Word says to hunger and thirst after righteousness (Matthew 5:6). That’s a big word meaning sacred spaces, pure and holy things. Same verse tells us when we hunger we will be filled. Pray for hunger. Then seat yourself beside Him and see nothing else.
I promise it’ll all be okay.
