| "He is the strength, the patience, the endurance, and the peace to see the answer come to pass, in the manner He knows is best for us." |
EVERY MAN is given THE MEASURE of faith (Romans 12:3), which is Jesus, and we have all of Him, so it is not a lack of faith which keeps us from believing God will keep His promise. When we have LITTLE FAITH or WEAK FAITH or even NO FAITH, those being the strength of our trust in God, God does not turn a deaf ear to us. He isn’t tapping His toe, waiting on us to reach the correct faith level. “For that, you need a little bit more.”
“And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.” (Matthew 8:26)
“And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.” (Luke 8:25)
“Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.” (Romans 14:1)
It is said, “Without faith your prayers will not be answered,” when we come up against something particularly longsuffering and difficult and we falter. But this thinking leaves out the nature of God. Tossing out the word “faith”, which paints the wrong image, we must know that God is exceedingly FAITHFUL. He never refuses to answer, never says He will not provide for us. He is always ready to help us, but there are reasons why what we want doesn’t come as quickly or in the manner we think it ought to, and very often, most often that reason is “us”.
Minister Bill Johnson points out that God will use even negative situations for our good. This is in the Scriptures. Unfortunately, he says, we’ve gotten in the habit of blaming Him for them as well. But our God is good and does only good (Psalm 119:68). He does not tempt us with evil (James 1:13). He has no evil in Him but is holy. God isn’t to blame for sickness and disease, accident or loss, but instead, He is the strength, the patience, the endurance, and the peace to see the answer come to pass, in the manner He knows is best for us. And that’s what it comes down to. Our lack of knowledge of Him holds the completion in check, our mouths, us saying the wrong thing, and our immaturity of conduct, of action and reaction require correction first.
An angry man on a street corner lit into a man over Christianity and a little girl’s illness, and faced with the man’s anger, the man who was asked the questions, faltered. Many have asked something similar, “Why doesn’t God do something?” and the Truth is, He has. He sent Jesus. Lack of knowledge of Him prevents answers until knowledge is received. That sounds clinical when it isn’t really. Until we see Jesus, we will falter. God knows each of us intimately and has only love for us. He is all knowledge and perfect justice. When we determine to walk with Him and to submit to Him, in all things we must face, we will always receive what we are trusting Him for. Always.
“Brothers and sisters, I have not yet experienced this perfect, total, and complete restoration, but there is one thing I can do to assist God in his plan to heal and restore: I don’t lament past mistakes nor grow content with past victories; rather, I constantly push for the perfection that still lies ahead. I press forward, constantly toward the goal of Christlike perfection—one day to experience the ultimate prize for which God has called me heavenward—the joy of seeing him face to face.” (Philippians 3:13-14, Remedy)
“The selfish mind operates on the survival-of-the-fittest principle, which says, ‘I love myself so much that I will kill you in order that I may live;’ and such a mind is at war with the God of love, who says, ‘I love you so much that I will give my life in order that you might live.’ The mind of the selfish person does not surrender to the principle of love—which requires death to self-interest—nor can it do so;” (Romans 8:7, Remedy)
