| "And to give bliss." |
FOR SOME, comes a moment when you face the fact of death. It is approaching, it is at your door, etcetera. But what you do when you come to that moment makes the difference. If you begin to seek it, you have stepped in the wrong way. God does not want us to seek death. But if we know of it, that it could happen, and simply say “so what,” not afraid of it, nor bothered by it, then He will move on our behalf.
Seeking death is doubt. Facing it unafraid is faith. God did not want us to ever be afraid to die. This is why Jesus came. He settled all worries about where we will go. When we make Him Lord and Savior, believing in His Resurrection, then heaven is our gain. And it is a beautiful place. There is no condemnation to anyone who died soon and found themselves there, nor any to anyone who sought death and is there. Condemnation is not God’s way. But His correction says to not seek death even for the bliss of heaven. He came to make the way, to be the way, and to give the bliss.
He also gives us strength for the here-and-now, for the today.
The apostle Paul could have given up many times. He was shipwrecked, beaten, stoned, imprisoned, bit by a viper, the list is long! Even at the end of his life he said, “I have fought a good fight,” yet chose to live a while longer for “their sakes,” those who needed him here. Here is our lesson. We are living, not for our own comfort, but our family’s, our friends’, and those who see us and hear us. We are making all of our life’s choices in order to be seen as strong in the Lord and the power of His might (Ephesians 6:10).
May the end of our days be when it should, at the end of a long successful blessed life.
“With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.” (Psalms 91:16)
“For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you. And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith; That your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ for me by my coming to you again.” (Philippians 1:23-26)
“For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:” (2 Timothy 4:6-7)
