| "He just wants us to ask." |
GOD ISN’T speaking perpetual mysteries. When He gives a vision or words of prophecy, when He speaks something to our heart, the interpretation is available. He just wants us to ask. He wants to impart (give) revelation. That’s an “Aha!” moment. Suddenly, we see what we have not been seeing, and our perspective changes and, through it, our response.
Too much time is spent by Christians searching in their mind for the meaning of what He said. If we spend enough time with Him, we will always understand, always be in step with God, always be prepared. Nothing will catch us off guard. That is WHY He speaks in the first place.
“God does not respond to what we do; we respond to what God does. We’ve finally figured it out. Our lives get in step with God and all others by letting him set the pace, not by proudly or anxiously trying to run the parade.” (Romans 3:27 MSG)
“Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us walk in step with the Spirit." (Galatians 5:24-25 BSB)
We’ve confused His silence with the false idea that our spiritual maturity includes these times of not knowing or even, misunderstanding. We’ve called them faith, since we’re blind as a bat, but then can’t figure out why we keep running into fence posts. Yes, Abraham left his hometown to travel to a place he hadn’t seen, but he arrived there safely, had pasture for his cattle, and was a man of great substance, without any lack. Yes, Noah was told to build a boat when he’d most likely never seen rain, and yes, he built it many miles from any ocean, but God gave him the instruction of how to build it. The design was God’s. God also designed the tabernacle of Moses and Solomon’s temple. He then had His Son, Jesus, our Messiah, grow up as a carpenter’s son. God is specific and of infinite details when it comes to what He gives us to do.
It serves Him no purpose to our growth, with us expecting to grow, for us to remain ignorant. This is repeated by the apostles in the New Testament many times. Jesus came to reveal the mystery of the Gospel and to put a face on the Father and the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:9). Through Him, we can come boldly to the throne. To ask for our needs, to offer thanksgiving, to worship, and even simply to be joyful. No one is happier and more joyful than our heavenly Father, our Savior, and our Friend, the Holy Spirit. Prayer is our conversation with them, and conversation is always two-way. Both sides are talking. Sometimes, that is to turn our gazes in a new direction or in a better direction, so God uses dreams or songs or even seeming coincidences in a myriad of ways. WHICH WE NEVER HAVE TO GUESS AT. Guessing leads to error, in fact, and error misleads those around us.
So please ask and know that what He replies will NEVER: bring fear, bring confusion, cause strife, or tear other people down. He will never speak anything without the fullness of His love being in it. You will always come away comforted, or you have misunderstood. Deceit comes from wickedness. Our God is truth.
- “Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant,” (1 Corinthians 10:1)
- “Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.” (1 Corinthians 12:1)
- “Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.” (2 Corinthians 2:11)
- “But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep” (1 Thessalonians 4:13)
- “But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing,” (2 Peter 3:8)
