"We were created on this earthly planet to have heavenly vision." |
WE TRY to do in our own strength what only God can do. We formulate sermons, write books, and start ministries without seeking God first. Or only in part. Minister Rick Renner thought he was to be a pastor and so he formed a church and gained a congregation, only to find himself in his parent’s garage with his wife wondering what went wrong. He will tell you he assumed things which God had never spoken. See him today as such a blessed man of God to the nation of Russia. Everything we do for God must come FROM Him and not only be FOR Him.
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5)
In recent days, I have written things God had formed in me, things I did not see fully until He wrote them through me. In the writing of them, I saw them clearly. I have also heard things spoken by others that I used to look past and realize now how much nearer the Spirit’s voice is and subsequently, how much higher my perspective. This is God’s will for us. 2 Corinthians 3:18 says as we behold Jesus, we are changed “from glory to glory.” The more we see Him, in other words, the more like Him we become BECAUSE He is closer, and we see better. We move from only seeing God as a generic being to Him being Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then, our steady gaze forms a fondness for Them in us, and They become Abba, Jesus, and our Best Friend.
The more time you spend with someone, the closer you become to them. We were created on this earthly planet to have heavenly vision. We are physical beings, but God wants us to walk in Him, to see spiritually, supernaturally, every minute of every day. There is so much He longs to show us, to explain to us, that we can share with those who hear us, if we will just press in. What does that mean “to press in?” I never like to use words and phrases and people assume their meaning. The church has a habit of creating vocabulary that soon becomes cliché. To “press in” is to set aside distractions.
What distracts you from time spent with Him? And is that time priceless and precious to you, or do you do it by rote, out of habit? It makes a huge difference which one. My time with my loving God is priceless to me, it is the most precious thing. I have lost interest in other things that used to capture my attention. I don’t watch television anymore, at all. That is not to condemn those who do. My family does. I simply don’t need it. What I need even more now is God’s Word. The more I have made it key to my daily life, the more its principles leap out at me now, and refocusing on my previous statement, the more I see and hear from the heart of God what I overlooked before. It has made me more loving and less critical, and far more discerning.
What I want this blog to do for you is to create a craving for more of Him. I want Him to become your best thing, not to replace who you are, not to change what you’re good at, but to make you better at it and aware of His voice. That is the highest honor to us all. That we can talk to Him and hear Him respond. When I put together my small book, Conversations With God, it was a concept in my heart. Others spoke to Him like that, so why couldn’t I? Today, it is a reality, only far more than I could ever convey. As I have said before, when darkness got loud in my ears, God spoke louder, clearer, and definite.
“Forever, you are mine,” He said, and shared with me the Truth of His nature. He is far more gentle and loving and understanding than men can possibly imagine.
