Walk In Him

"We must learn how He desires to speak and what He would say, through time spent in the Word."

LOT’S WIFE looked back, and their daughters had no mother, no guidance. Moab and Ammon, perpetual enemies to Israel were born of their sin. What they feared, having no husband and no offspring, became, through their willfulness, error. Ishmael was Abraham’s. Joseph’s had him sold into slavery. David’s cost him a son. Sons.

Ezekiel laid on his side for over a year to draw a picture of judgment. I’ve always admired him for his dedication to God, but how often did they walk past him and not understand? For one day, judgment came, and their sins had a cost. Lives were lost. Cities destroyed. The temple raped of its ornament. God gave them time to inquire, time to ask of Him what did this mean. They didn’t listen.

We could draw a similar picture of Satan’s attempt to claim God’s throne. How long did those angels contemplate their arrogance? And what of their fall? We aren’t told, but by Him and for Him, Jesus, were created all things (Colossian 1:17), and they were all very good. So there’s understanding to be had. Nothing slips by the Almighty. He knows all things, and He knew Adam would choose disobedience. He saw Satan’s deception and Eve’s belief in it. He had already prepared Jesus’ body for our salvation. Jesus was not caught off-guard by His humanness. He did have to mature physically and mentally from a child into a man, but then all things were revealed to Him and He walked fully in them.

Every life is God’s. No life exists without Him. All creation was formed from His words and works out of His existence. The sun, moon, and stars cycle in the heavens because He set them so, and their pull affects the tides; they cannot go over the land but so far. Destruction of earth through wind and fire are not His. He made things perfect. Imperfection came when sin gave birth to sickness and sickness brought death. Spiritual death for man and physical death as a result. Our new creation is God’s eternal, unending life reborn within us. Our spirits are made new, as Adam’s was when he first breathed. The difference is, this time there is no sin that can undo Jesus’ work.

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV)

There is no enemy in devils, now losers. For they have lost all that God gave them, all He made them to be. There is nothing within but hatred and violence. Could God fill them with His presence? Certainly. But “could” is not the question. “Why?” is what must be asked. What would be the reason for such an action? And why ask this question?

Should questions be asked that are not directly in the Word of God? What then do we say of the apostle Paul, or revelation given to Peter, as his vision to “take and eat” (Acts 11:7)? We say, “Do not take away from the Word of God.” But to “add to it” is done in the Spirit within men and women all the time. It cannot be penned into the Bible itself but as with these United States, the prophets have spoken over her for generations. Over Israel and many other countries. He speaks to pastors and those in ministry to the body of Christ and to people groups. It isn’t meant to alter the Words of God but to give enlightenment and encouragement and, on occasion, a warning.

We must learn how He desires to speak and what He would say, though time spent in the Word, then be confident in our relationship with Him that He has said what we are willing to declare. This is the line we draw which cannot be crossed.

“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.” (Galatians 5:16 KJV)
