"Who we submit to becomes our Lord." |
YOU CAN’T STEAL my salvation. You can’t remove the blood from my heart and God’s forgiveness of my sins. You can’t take away the love of God which surrounds me, sustains me. You can’t turn the Savior’s tender gaze away from me. It’s not up for debate. There is no devil’s ultimatum to satisfy, or I’m lost from Jesus. Oh, that loser has tried, but I’m not down for that. The weak one is the devil. I am strong in the Lord, strong in His power and might (Ephesians 6:10).
We’ve given the devil stature, and he has none. He’s full of scare tactics but only because that’s all he has in him. He’s perpetually terrified. I’m not. Been there, done that, own the t-shirt. I have living in me the Holy Spirit, and you can’t get more loving, more patient, and protective than that. We can’t see it, being shortsighted. Wrong doctrine has made Him into something ethereal. But, no, He’s a person, united with the Trinity – Father, Son, and Spirit.
The devil was an angel. Then he came up with the dumb idea to exalt himself about God. He thought he’d use what God gave him to take over. First, God saw that coming. Second, just NO. And so God stripped away all he had and kicked him out. It is not that the devil created darkness, but that outside of God’s Presence there is no light. So that’s where he is. Not because he is strong. Hell is not his. It’s not his throne nor does he have any dominion over anything or anyone.
Our image is wrong. Who we submit to becomes our Lord. By not selecting Jesus as Master, the meaning of Rabbi, we leave ourselves open to worldly, devilish things. “But, Suzanne, the King James Bible says Satan is the prince of this world.” He is first in sin and first in temptation. That is the meaning of the word translated “prince.” The devil is no prince nor does he deserve the honor. Who we honor holds our allegiance. The only allegiance Satan gets is by those deceived by his lies.
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7 KJV)
God is truth. He would have us see truth even in the midst of seeming confusion. Confusion is part of the work of the devil, we are told in James 3:16. Strife and confusion, and every evil work come from him. And NOT power and authority, those are God’s. He has all things in His hands, and though we don’t understand this, He asks us to trust Him. What He has not revealed is for us to learn, when it is His timing. Don’t get caught up in the thought of God’s timing. Jokes have been made about God being last minute. The truth is, He is specific and exact. He sees your situation, and if you will keep it in His hands, it will not be a burden, for His burden is light. I love the Amplified Classic of these verses.
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.] Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle (meek) and humble (lowly) in heart, and you will find rest (relief and ease and refreshment and recreation and blessed quiet) for your souls. For My yoke is wholesome (useful, good—not harsh, hard, sharp, or pressing, but comfortable, gracious, and pleasant), and My burden is light and easy to be borne.” (Matthew 11:28-30 AMPC)
How wonderful is the image of such peace and quiet. I know there have been times with me when the adversary was loud in my ears, but even then, I had quiet in my soul. This is just like Jesus, who carried our sins in His body on the tree with great peace in His being. He was never without God’s Presence to sustain Him. The Father looked upon Him continuously and when His life was gone, His body dead, Jesus was alive in spirit. He was never under the power of Satan or any devils. He is Christ. And He is King. He holds our allegiance and the power to save, deliver, and heal. There is no more war, no more battle. We are His. We are free.
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27 KJV)
