Redemption - an audio sermon

"So that He could die a physical death and redeem mankind."

JESUS LIVED with the threat of death every day following His baptism. The Scripture records some 39 times the religious leaders expressed their hunger to kill Him. They called Him a devil for healing people and tried repeatedly to catch Him (trip Him up) in His Words. But He heard the Spirit. He knew God's voice. He was God in the flesh who did entirely the will of His Father.

Healing is the Father's will, and in the gospels (the good news), Jesus healed every part of the body, from head to toe, as well as the mind of many illnesses and the heart of those possessed by demons. Being possessed means the devil held captive their spirit man. The Holy Spirit lives in the heart of every child of God. The devil is not welcome there.

Now, the heart in the Scriptures is a combination of the Spirit and the mind, often. But here, I mean the spirit man itself. Genesis records man was created a spirit like God, who is Spirit (John 4:24). It also tells that we are physical bodies, made in the image of Jesus' physical body. He would be born as a man, to His parents, who were husband and wife, so that He could die a physical death and redeem mankind.

My mother spoke at her church a sermon which explains redemption. I will include the link and encourage you to listen. It is such a wonderful part of Jesus' gift to us.

Psalm 23 TLB
1 Because the Lord is my Shepherd, I have everything I need!
2-3 He lets me rest in the meadow grass and leads me beside the quiet streams. He gives me new strength. He helps me do what honors him the most.
4 Even when walking through the dark valley of death I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me, guarding, guiding all the way.
5 You provide delicious food for me in the presence of my enemies. You have welcomed me as your guest; blessings overflow!
6 Your goodness and unfailing kindness shall be with me all of my life, and afterwards I will live with you forever in your home.
