"But on this side of the valley, the view is different."

THERE IS NEVER one doubt in me that God is with me. I never wonder if He’s listening. He is. I know He loves me to the greatest degree. All of Him is dedicated to my welfare, to me having the best, happiest, safest, longest life possible. He has removed all the efforts of the devil to steal, kill, and destroy any particle of my life. Whatever it looks like in the natural, whatever men are saying or my mind is wondering, I know what His Word says on it, and that He is completely faithful. I hear it all the time, someone saying they didn’t know if God cares or if He is going to help them, and having thought like that in the past, I get it. But on this side of the valley, the view is different. On this side, what sounded like a cricket over there is actually a shofar.

He isn’t being hard to reach. We hold Him at a distance. Through doctrine, distractions, dissonance. Embracing confusion, we relabel it reverence and hold back because God is King Henry with an axe and a sword. The Crusaders were wrong. God did NOT want them to invade Jerusalem and kill His people. Yet, men came to that conclusion, creating a God of warfare out of the God of peace and comfort. The mention of wrath in the Word is meant to make us see mercy. Reading vengeance, we should see lovingkindness. God did not send His Son to die in order to cause the apocalypse. His judgment is eternal life and everlasting goodness. Kindness. Those who do not accept Him will see their regret in the size of His kindness that they overlooked. That’s human and spiritual beings together.

“Or do you think lightly of his wealth of kindness, of tolerance, and of patience, without recognizing that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to a change of heart?” (Romans 2:4)

Angels were created as ministers for God’s children. This is told us in Hebrews 1:14. The word “angel” itself means “a messenger,” and the word “ministers” means “attendants.” But here’s the thing—they were created by the God of Love and the Prince of Peace, by the Spirit of joy and faith and self-control. God fills their beings. Those who rebelled, the devil especially, lost all of God’s nature, down to their very structure and form. Their beauty became nothingness. We see this in Satan inhabiting the serpent and in that he did not recognize Jesus when face-to-face with Him in the wilderness (Luke 4:2). Jesus said He saw Satan fall like lightning (Luke 10:18). And we know Satan walked the plan of God to Jesus’ death at Calvary, not realizing what He was doing. Because the man he thought he’d eliminated, three days later, rose from the dead.

"For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.” (Hebrews 2:16)

But Jesus did not take on Himself the nature of angels. He became a man, born as an infant, raised in Nazareth, and revealed as the Son of God through the power of God which laid upon Him in fullness. He fulfilled the Father’s plan, which included all of Old Covenant Law, and then the birth of the New Covenant, sealed in His blood. For one reason only. To bring the people of earth back into the life of God and free them from death, and sickness and disease that are causes of it. God wanted us to be close, as close as the mention of His name. When I call my dog, she lifts her head and looks my way. When I call my husband’s name, He looks toward me. When I call my daughter, she will glance up. If I speak to them, they listen. The same can be said of them speaking to me, although the dog’s language is more staring and tail wagging. God did not make us family in order to treat us as servants. Jesus called us friends (John 15:14). The apostle Paul calls us Jesus’ brothers (Romans 8:29). The Spirit is our Father. The Father is our Abba or Dad.

We are meant to hear them all day, to feel close. We’ve grown used to our individuality, and God has made us all unique. But everything we do, all we are, comes from them. Like as angels stand in place for what seems like long periods of time to us, but because they are full of the peace of God, that is nothing at all to them. In His likeness, we eat and sleep and plan our days with His presence. We are never meant to be without Him. That is incorrect thinking, often promoted, by churchisms. Words like “move of God” and “revival” become moments when God will speak, when we can hear Him at any time of the day. This is what He wants, for us to see ourselves with Him and to stop seeking the distant moment. He’s right here. He will show you spiritual things right here. You can have supernatural experiences today where you are at. We should stop fearing God to the point we don’t come close. He is no longer behind the veil, solely in the Holy of Holies. He is within us. We should know it.

“And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.” (Mark 15:38)

“That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.” (John 17:21)
