"... completely understood by God who created us." |
WHEN YOUR HEAD goes left, go right with your heart. The mind cooks up cuckoo plots. Stupid things that won’t happen, but they somehow satisfy your frustration. Because I write fiction, my head is continually making storylines from the stuff around me. The trouble with it is that sometimes, I have to stop. There’s only so much “what if” and then “something bad happens” that you should think on.
The devil is a dodo. He thinks what we think is accurate. For me, it isn’t. Again, those cuckoo plots. There’s also the fact that my heart (spirit man) speaks to God who speaks back to me and what is said there is truth and safety (Romans 8:27). The devil can’t hear this. He’s dead. God is alive, and God’s life is in us because of salvation.
We’re too mind-conscious. We have to learn to give it to God and have no cares about anything. The Spirit of God will renew our mind, guide our thoughts, and teach us what the Word says about peace and strength. He will help us to NOT react to stress. He is actually not against cuckoo plots – to a point. He is what makes us creative. All forms of art – painting, sculpture, music, dancing – are actually His idea. Man takes them and makes them sexual and sinful. But nothing we can do comes from ourselves.
“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)
I woke up one morning with the entire plot of a fiction story. It came from the Spirit. Why would He do that? Well, because He sees the plan for my life and how my head works, and He supports me, so He gave me something I could do and would enjoy that would keep my head in the game. Else, I would, like anyone else, go off-center and what I write would be from my reasoning, and how I write it would not be what He wanted to say. God does write fiction, so He should be in control of it in our hearts and minds.
There’s something to be said for this in the arts and in the ministries of the church as well. We must WALK IN THE SPIRIT, being LED OF THE SPIRIT (Galatians 5:18, 25). So much of what we prophesy, preach and teach, comes from what WE want to say, and sometimes, it is accurate but not what’s on HIS heart. We know His voice and should follow it. Which includes judging others for their creativity.
Let me just throw this out there. But there ARE Christian tattoo artists, and stretching this further, un-Christian tattoo artists who He’s gifted. Stop judging people for tattoos. Admire the artistry, pray for the person, and let it go, people. We worry too much about the what-ifs. What if someone gets one they regret? What if they offend God? Roll those cares over on God, and again, pray for people. Pray blessings. Every word we speak, everything we create, should praise God and bless people.
It can also, when we’re at home in our secret place, relieve stress. Scream at the sky if you have to, then drink a Coke and eat a donut. God can and will talk to you about everyday things if you let Him. It doesn’t toss reverence and the fear of God to the winds to be yourself. He’s very down-to-earth. When the winds were blowing all around me, He spoke to me like I did not expect, and it took me a while to realize how much the church’s image of Him left out His humanity. There are things He actually does not want to eat, for instance. No, He doesn’t have to eat, nor does He sleep. But my point is, He likes one food and dislikes another. He’s human. He lived on the earth and someone burnt the lavash.
He's God. There is a balance which places us in a beautiful position.
When I saw the Father seated on the throne, I saw His torso and hands, not His face, but one thing I noticed: His skin is every culture, every skin color. I cannot explain this. But our division based on ethnicity is point-blank stupid. Just stop it. He created all men, and He loves all men. He weeps when people praise Him in Hawaiian, the cultures of the islands, and of Africa. When we sing blessings in Celtic or Welsh, He rejoices. For all of it is His and all of it is precious to Him. All of us are prized by Him, and Jesus is His entire identity. He is the character and fullness of God’s essence (Colossians 1:19, Remedy). He and the Father and the Spirit are one. They share the SO LOVE that sent Jesus to earth to die for sins.
We need to remember this when facing the devil. When dealing with unruly people. When speaking, because we do not know the other man’s heart. Only God does. We walk every day through this life led of His Spirit, uncondemned for our personality traits, forgiven for our past, completely understood by God who created us. God gets every tiny part of you. He knows how you think and why, and He desires to give you peace, which begins by first knowing you can be yourself, and He loves you for who you are.
