"He is only seen and heard through time spent in His presence." |
“Because Satan’s lies obscured the truth about God—making confusing and mysterious what was once plain—God sent Christ to reveal the truth and thereby remove the confusion and mystery by making plain the truth about himself and his will.” (Ephesians 1:9, Remedy)
The Word does give us His character.
He isn't perpetually angry. He is joyful. He is peace. He is the fullness of the fruit of the Spirit presented in Galatians 5:22-23. He IS sensitive to us, as stated in the Scriptures many times, but NOT as vengeance. Instead, He is goodness and mercy. Compassion. He isn't ignoring us, waiting on us to get our act together before He say something. Nor is He speaking so that we must “figure out” what He just said. He speaks plainly so that you will understand and learn from it. He is our Teacher (John 14:26). To make things too deep for us or too difficult goes against His purpose in saying it. We have to tell ourselves that this kind of thinking is wrong.
He is quiet by nature and usually soft spoken, though He doesn't have to be. He can be an earthquake, He has been a wind and a fire, but He prefers to whisper (1 Kings 19:12). He will NOT say in 5 words what He can say in 3, and He is all we need to understand the 3. He is our Guide through life. We have to learn to listen.
“But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things.” (John 14:26 AMPC)
We have to expect Him as He is in the New Covenant. He was a column of fire by night and a cloud by day to Israel. He was thunder on the mountain and lightning, in Moses' day. He dedicated a people in order to send Jesus to live among them, to become one of them. He built a temple. He anointed a line of priests. But He wanted to place the altar within us, and cleanse us with Jesus’ blood. That is why Jesus came. He was sent but He also chose to come.
The precious Holy Spirit wanted to be tongues of fire and a river of living water within us, to make us a new creation. He wanted to be the life of our flesh, to lead us in strength and power anywhere we need to go. He hungered to speak to us as only we could hear, and to give us forever with Him. To never leave us or forsake us and spend eternity together. Every minute of our lives loved by Him. Even when neither one of us says anything.
We are known by Him completely. He knows our thoughts, our most detailed intent. We should know Him with His fervor, so that a prophecy isn't threatening. He doesn't make threats. So that it brings encouragement. He is the future where there is no more death. That is His heart for us. We must know Him well, and preach our sermons from any pulpit, speaking His words only and not our opinions.
The ministry callings work together. Apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor, teacher. For He is unity. And His work among us is seen by us because He enables us to understand Him. He gives us revelation. But even when we don't get it and what we say doesn’t clearly show Him, His love to us is boundless and our confidence in it, prevents even one worry over His abundance to us.
“No disunity or competition exists in the body, but all the parts are equally concerned for the health of the others.” (1 Corinthians 12:25, Remedy)
We can see our confidence in Jesus, who when facing the cross gave His disciples His own peace, right after promising them the Holy Spirit. Jesus was not afraid. Fear is a product of darkness, of where God is not, but Jesus told them Satan had nothing in Him (John 14:30). He hung on the cross because He was united to the Spirit. This is God's desire for us, for us to have that same knowledge of Him. 2 Peter 1:3 tells us we receive God’s nature BECAUSE we know Him. So in opposite, when we don't know Him, we will lack understanding and make incorrect statements about Him drawn from head knowledge.
The Holy Spirit should be in control. We must place Him there, not in strict obeisance. The Pharisees had that, following the Law to the jot and tittle, but their behavior was so appalling that it fulfilled all seven of the things God hates listed in Proverbs. No, we give God control because we love Him and He loves us. What you love you will seek, you will learn about, you will lean on, you will listen.
He is speaking!
“But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.” (Romans 8:11)
“But if the Spirit of him who made Jesus come again from the dead is in you, he who made Christ Jesus come again from the dead will in the same way, through his Spirit which is in you, give life to your bodies which now are under the power of death.” (Romans 8:11 BBE)
Proverbs 6:16-19
“These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.”
