"He is the courage to see prayer fulfilled." |
Faith is a word used to describe our love and trust in our God who is faithful, generous, and kind. Because He is faithful, generous, and kind, and we love Him, we trust Him. It's that simple.
Faith materializes what you expect as if it has already been provided. You can taste it. It doesn't make you sure. It is evidence you are sure, embracing what God said because He said it.
It's not the verb tense that determines faith, nor a complete understanding of what faith is, but the condition of the heart. There is, for a time, a future tense, until fulfillment. Many people speaking present tense do not believe (have no faith) but will if they remember it will happen.
Faith now is but because it is founded on hope, it also is coming. It is the confidence that what is coming will happen. But we must know it is not our works which bring it to pass. The timing is God's, the method is His, and the extent of it as well. Our only action is to trust Him completely and speak what we believe.
What do you believe? Is God for you? He is. Can your need, your prayer be found in the Word? Then He will do it. And if it is specific to you, He gives wisdom. If it is huge and seems like too much to believe, He has promised to do exceeding, abundantly above all we can ask or think. If your mind can't fathom it, then accept it in your heart.
The doubt in the mind does not eclipse the trust of our love so great we believe for what is impossible from God who can, who will provide. This is a more accurate description of faith. Our love for our God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – is so great, and Their goodness is so generous and abundant that we believe our need is supplied. And They have provided us with the patient endurance to see it fulfilled. We can wait with joy, and it will happen.
He is the courage to see prayer fulfilled. Prayer is conversation. We talk to God, like we talk to friends, and He responds. We must tune ourselves to listen and refine our hearts to hear. Doubt is a distraction as is anger and despair. Our emotions take over. Though they were given to us by God, the adversary uses them against us. He causes us to pay more attention to them than to God’s unfailing promise. Because what He has promised is 100%. He cannot lie, and He is truth.
Knowing He is truth, knowing He is consistently true, always true, mixes with the height of our affection and the depth of His kindness and goodness to make our answered prayer a certainty. He is not a God so big, SO LOVE, to leave any doubt in us. Because we know Him, we have no doubt, and time slips past, bringing the promise. And we rejoice in it in advance, that confident, that assured.
“That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.” (Hebrews 6:12)
