"We should rejoice in God instead." |
THE DEVIL can move men's bodies. We see this in the gospels where a demon threw a boy down into the water or the fire. We see it where demons caused men to speak, using their voices against their will. Demons ran a herd of pigs over a cliff to their death, though it is interesting to note that they hadn't been able to do that to the man they possessed, though there were more than 2,000 of them. The devil gave visions to Jesus, the Messiah, causing Him to see things, as if He was standing somewhere else that He was not. The devil made men blind and deaf and without the ability to speak.
Jesus healed them with a word, with a touch.
We fear these things because of a lack of understanding. Jesus was not afraid of anything the devil caused men to do. He commanded him to be silent and cast them out. He spoke the Word to him, pointing fingers at Himself as being Jehovah. Did Satan see it? We are told he left Jesus for a time (Luke 4:13).
God is greater by millions of multiplicity than that lousy scoundrel. The devil is not a god but a condemned and defeated created being. God was never threatened by him. There was never any chance of God’s defeat. Remember, God spoke the Word and all corners of this earth, some 126.016 billion acres, were lit by His presence. He formed the oceans in one day, that's (according to NOAA), approximately 352 quintillion gallons of water. He placed the sun in the sky, a planet which no human can even approach because of its heat. The stars still multiply to this day, neverending life.
The devil cannot raise the dead. He cannot bring anything to life. But God formed man's body with all its organs and tissues, the blood and digestive enzymes, all that medical science studies and tries to cure, out of the dust. He breathed into Adam's nostrils, and Adam moved and talked and fell in love with woman, God formed from his side. A husband and wife create offspring, children, because God set it in order. The devil has never made any creature change from its DNA into anything else, nor made creatures give birth to other species.
Jesus defined him. He is a thief who steals, kills, and destroys through lies. Jesus is life.
“Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.” (John 8:44)
“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10)
The Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit, can do the impossible. He caused a 90-year-old woman to give birth. He conceived Jesus in his mother, Mary, who was a virgin. He caused Jesus to walk on water, and as my mother always says, "You can't walk on water on a clear day either." Here's a supernatural feat we haven't taken in enough. We doubt His desire to heal and deliver while believing a man like Peter walked on the waves during the height of a storm.
Another fact, when Jesus calmed the storm in John 6:21, the Holy Spirit moved the boat and all its occupants to the shore. As in, in an instant, without rowing. In the book of Acts, He moved the disciple Philip from the desert where he had baptized the eunuch to a city many miles away (Acts 8:39).
God can and God will work in our flesh, our human bodies, amazing wonders. We fear the devil. We should rejoice in God instead. Because although the enemy still tries to deceive and destroy life, God has given us all He is to live well. He has not given us the spirit of fear but His Spirit, who is love and Resurrection power, and a sound, healthy mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We don't have to live with mental disease or disorder as we age or in our children. We don't have to watch our pets get sick and die.
I had a dog who should not have lived. She had kidney failure and pancreatitis. The vet rescued her from pancreatitis when she was on the edge of death, and she made a full recovery. God healed her kidneys through laying on of hands. She had no more trouble of that kind. And God set her free of skin disease she’d had her entire life. She did not need any of her medication and lived to be 17.
I confessed the Word over her. In Deuteronomy 28, God blessed Israel's cattle and sheep with health. I used to tell her she was the only cow I had.
There is not one area of your life God will not turn into something beautiful. The key to believing this is knowing Him well. Minister Jesse Duplantis has a book entitled, "I Never Learned To Doubt." I thought that was such a bold statement, and it is, and did not understand how he could say that, at first. But now, I totally get it. God did for me, out of His mercy, what I did not even know to ask for. The doctor had told me I had frontal lobe atrophy, something I was unaware of. He said it was incurable, and it would eventually kill me. It was why I had such horrible migraines, most of the week.
That was in 2022. I haven't had one headache of any kind since the doctor said that.
A neurologist said my reaction to a common medication was permanent and I'd have spells from its effects even into my later years. But today, I am completely healed. I've had no more reactions at all since then. I could go on. He healed my knees. They had very little cartilage and made loud popping noises. He healed the arthritis in my hip. I never asked for either one, though I believed in His desire to heal. It simply never crossed my mind. (If you knew me, you'd understand this.)
God is so merciful, and that is why we can believe. The gospels tell us fantastic truths of what He did for the helpless and those who didn't have strong faith. For instance, He calmed the storm, though the disciples only had “a little faith.” (Matthew 8:26) He healed a father’s son, when the father said, “Help my unbelief.” The size of people’s faith didn’t stop Him from doing miracles. Instead, these miracles are His testimony, proof of what He will do again and again. That is His nature, His character, and what I would call His "likes and dislikes."
God hates sin. Jesus destroyed the work of the devil. The Father through the Spirit raised Jesus from the grave, making of His torn and beaten body, something glorious (Philippians 3:21). He SO LOVED the world, and so went about doing good and healing all those oppressed of the devil (Acts 10:38). He hasn't changed. He is the same, yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). We can know this assuredly and place our complete trust in Him. There is no part of our lives He will not make something wonderful.
In our spirit man, where we are made new, in our mind and emotions which He gave to us (they are His creation meant for our blessing), and in our body which He can and will and has put back together for so many. Myself included.
He will do it. Because He loves us so much. Because He can. Because it is who He is.
"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised." (Luke 4:18)
