"He wants you to see Him" |
The question is WHO you have faith in and WHY, not WHAT.
Let’s be honest. WHAT are you wanting to see in "revival" or a "move of God"? Maybe the fact you want to SEE it, as if it is entertaining, is a big enough red flag. Ask yourself now, “What does God want?” And make it personal. “What does He want from me?” Answer: He wants you to see Him, not an event nor a miraculous presentation. We are not children of God to live off of what He can give us but instead to be so close to Him we can hear His thoughts.
Have you thought about that? This is Jesus who died on a cruel cross at Calvary and rose again who is speaking to you. My first conversation came when I needed help, but no one has to wait until desperation. He doesn't limit our relationship to prayer time either. There’s been misunderstanding within the body that God only speaks a few words now and then and we must live pensive, forever hoping He will say something. Galatians 5:25 tells us to WALK IN THE SPIRIT and LIVE IN THE SPIRIT. There are no daylight hours excluded from this, no time at night which He refuses to speak.
In fact, the closer we come to Him, the more we seek Him, the more sensitive to His voice we will become. God hungers for conversation, but He knows our every thought, down to its finest intent (Hebrews 4:12), and will never place a weight of fear or confusion upon us (1 Corinthians 14:33). He is our Father as well as our Friend. Hebrews 7:25 in the Passion Translation speaks so well of Him. There is no trace of evil, no sin in Him. He can be completely trusted. We should not ever be afraid. He has only good prepared for us.
“He [Jesus] is the High Priest who perfectly fits our need—holy, without a trace of evil, without the ability to deceive, incapable of sin, and exalted beyond the heavens!” (Hebrews 7:25 TPT)
But what we seek as a corporate body begins in us as individuals. We learn Him first, then we know Him and He moves through us into the lives of others. We are not fans in a fanclub who shriek when we see our celebrity hero. The apostle Paul cautions against this mindset. It is also spoken against in Psalm 119. We seek Jesus as Savior and worship Him as God. He becomes our Friend because we can be trusted, and those whom He trusts are known by Him intimately because He is the Word of God which can separate spirit from soul.
“For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.” (1 Corinthians 14:33)
He is the Father who knows all things and is never confused. He is the Spirit who ties heaven to earth in union forever. He cannot be broken, nor does He readily give way. To focus on our disunion is to put the cart before the horse. We need not fear that or worry about it, just as those serving Jehovah under the Old Covenant did not need to focus on breaking the Law but, instead, on keeping it. The rules of the Law were meant to help them live well. And the tabernacle and later, the temple, were for worship, for communication, man giving his breath back to God, as I heard one man say so beautifully. They were so God could be among people and prepare them for their Messiah.
The coming of Jesus as the Messiah was to remove all barriers between God and man, not to erase the reverence for God. But as we would speak to someone over us yet be who we are, just as we’d speak to a parent and share ourselves with them, knowing they know so much about us, because of Jesus’ shed blood, we can approach Him and, even greater, He can come be with us. With a promise, that it is forever and every gathering of His church, of likeminded individuals with relationships with Him, children of God who talk to Him, is to see Him among us. Aware that the life of His presence changes things.
On a personal level, at home or the grocery store, and on a corporate level. But He is the center of it and what we desire to see.
“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16)
“Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; And having an high priest over the house of God; Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.” (Hebrews 10:19-22)
