"There comes a day when the blue sky looks even bluer, and only you know why." |
GOD DOESN’T LOOK BACK except to see if we are following, and even then, He knows where we are. The shepherd who looked for the one, that being God, He knew where to find him. God never regrets an action, never feels shame because He could have done better. He's reliable, faithful, and complete justice without partiality. He is always truth.
He looks beyond our faults, as the old hymn says. He isn't a nitpick, but He is incredibly precise. Just think of Jesus' birth. This was no random couple who happened to live when they lived, in the place where they lived. God knew Mary would believe in His promise and hold fast to it despite family pressure, the concern of her soon-to-be husband, and social whispering. He knew she would keep walking forward.
He knew Joseph would give up his job and home to protect her and the infant. He knew he would love her and trust in God. He knew the government policies of the Romans which would affect Jesus' upbringing and eventually His death. He knew the arrogance of the religious leaders serving in the temple. The same atmosphere that caused Zacharias to doubt the angel's words caused Caiaphas the high priest and those under him to want Jesus dead.
Jesus had to come to earth before the destruction of the temple which He prophesied. He had to be hung in the valley of the shadow of death. That He was genetically descended from David and the kings of Israel is God's planning. That He was the Son of God descended from Adam the son of God is God's method. A modern-times Jesus couldn't have happened in that way. Medicine resurrects people all the time today. And puts them to sleep.
But there's no explanation for a virgin birth in that century, no explanation for an empty tomb. Nor a lame man leaping and praising God when Peter and John spoke to him, except that the Spirit of God who anointed Jesus now anointed them too.
Moses died at age 120, his body in full health and his eyesight clear. Jesus had to release His spirit so His life would be ended and did so at the Spirit's command. He was 33. My daughter is 31. I can't fathom it. He had no sin. None. Even his staying behind in Jerusalem at age 12 was not sin. Throwing the moneychangers out of His Father’s house was not sin. Nor is it an example for us to follow because try that today and you will be arrested. It was done in the Spirit, meaning not Jesus being overly emotional. He didn't just "get angry." For anger from our mental reasonings profits nothing.
There are church people who never read the Word. Who never learn the true character of God. There are some outside all denominations who know more of it than those within. We have spiritual giants in the young and spiritual infants in adulthood. Difficulties push us toward Him. Ease tends to have us sit back. Unless you learned in the difficulty what changed your thinking forever.
There comes a day when the blue sky looks even bluer, and only you know why. And people are worth it because that's how Jesus sees them. And all our doctrines and arguments are worthless against the next breath we breathe. A day when you understand who God is. You've met Him. And you keep going forward for the reward of His presence. Nothing about you matters as much anymore. Except where you see Jesus.
