"He likes things impossible. In fact, the more im possible it is, the more excited I get because He's going to do something incredible." |
THE ONLY SCENARIO is God's. The only possible ending, one He has written. The ending is His, and the path to get there He carved in the life of Jesus Christ. It doesn’t matter what it looks like, how I feel, or what people say. He says I am well, I have all my needs supplied, I have an abundance of peace.
He likes things impossible. In fact, the more impossible it is, the more excited I get because He's going to do something incredible. He sent the nation of Israel, some millions of people who outnumbered the population of Egypt, through the desert in a dead-end route, and from all appearances, they ended up trapped, the army of Egypt behind them, an impassable sea in front of them and nothing but mountains and rocky terrain on every side. Their only advantage was God. In a cloud behind them and a fire between them and being completely lost, Moses lifted up his staff and billions of gallons of water parted left to right until the bottom of the sea was bone dry. Can't be done by humans. And God of the Hebrews did it in no time, enabling His people to cross through overnight. Then when Pharaoh tried to follow, God who held the waters back, let go and the Word says their wheels got stuck in the muck. The ground's no longer dry. Then the water caved in, and they drowned.
God would do this miracle again at the river Jordan which was pushed backward some 6 miles, then part the brook Cherith for Elijah and Elisha when they hit it with Elijah's anointed mantle. What we can't see the answer to, God's already solved. This is what we need to remember. With the fear and worry, the questions nagging us, we say instead, "God knows exactly what to do." All He needs is for us to step back and believe He will do it. We must trust Him. The Remedy translation has removed the word "faith" and replaced it with "trust" and I like this idea because trust implies our dependence. It means we lean on God despite our lack of understanding or our misunderstandings. Trust comes out of our love for Him and our knowing how much He loves us. Until we know to what extent our loving Father, our gentle Savior, and our Friend the Holy Spirit will go to for our salvation, we will continue to entertain doubts. For me, there is no longer a place for doubt.
“But without trust in God, it is impossible to please him. Those who come to God must do more than believe that he exists: they must recognize the truth of his absolute trustworthiness of character as revealed in Christ, and understand that he desires to heal and restore all those who trust him. Otherwise, fear will never be removed.” (Hebrews 11:6, Remedy)
Minister Jesse Duplantis has a book titled "I Never Learned To Doubt." I wondered how he could say that at first. Now, I don't. It's plain and simple. God knows everything. He always has my best interest at heart. He wants to see me healthy and successful and happy. There is nothing about Him to doubt. And I know when I see it in me, any hesitation to believe for my answer, that I need to quote the Word. I need to remind myself who He is and what He's done. I need to get in His presence and worship. Then all of life becomes clear and this earth dim in the light of His beauty and grace.
I refuse to doubt. I refuse to turn back. I refuse to settle for less, no matter how impossible it seems. Which is the point. God has made a way. I need only trust Him with it and know He will always show me my part in it. He is now the God who walks on water amidst the wind, the rain, and the waves. He is now the God who stills the storm with a word and sends me to the shore in a breath. No time involved. He did this, too, with Philip. He was with the eunuch then miles away, just like that. He who created time works outside of time and despite time. I need only hold fast, rejoice in Him, and wait and all I've asked Him for will come to pass.
“Jesus replied: ‘I tell you the plain truth: If you have genuine trust in God and don’t doubt him or his methods, not only will a pretentious tree that has no fruit wither in your presence, but you won’t need the Temple Mount to anchor your faith. You will be able to say to the mount, ‘Go, off to the sea,’ and it will happen. If you ask God for help, and trust him to provide it, you will receive the answer to your prayers.’” (Matthew 21:21-22, Remedy)
