"We're supposed to speak Jesus." |
HE'S THE MEDIATOR of a new and better covenant, the go-between of God the Father and those on this sin-sick earth. For us, who are messed up, smeared with our mistakes, bad decisions, foul language, unholiness, who can't possibly go to heaven in this state, who can't be clean, He makes the way possible.
He can't sin. He didn't sin. But He gave up everything including His memory to live here and be one of us. Think of that. He has always been. He is the Word who was at the beginning. He is why all things exist. Yet being born as an infant, He didn't know or remember anything. He trusted God entirely, and by age thirty-three, knew who He was and what He had to do. He knew what God the Spirit would do through Him and with Him.
He saw the filth of the world. He saw the prostitute, He saw those torn with demonic spirits, He heard mockery at His own expense. He carried the weight of all sin on Him through the Spirit. We pass by those with lifestyles we say, "God won't approve of," who speak like "God won't approve of" and shake our heads when Jesus has been there. He's viewed far worse. I watched a young man testify how God saved him from being a member of the Chinese mafia. And from all appearances now he's clean and educated, but when God met him, He was fighting a battle against another gang, far outnumbered and knew he was about to die. All he could remember was what his praying mama said, "If you ever get in a bad situation, call on Jesus."

Why would Jesus answer a member of the Chinese mafia? This young man couldn't read. At all. He never learned. Plus he was dyslexic. Yet, when he said, "Jesus save me." Jesus did. And over the next two days, in more miraculous ways. The love of God saved him, a man who didn't know what he believed. And a short time, God later healed him. He said he opened his Bible and instantly could read. There it is again. Jesus knows what it's like to learn, to have to reach for God, and trust Him. We look away at what people are wearing, but God's not doing that. He's looking at the heart. We're supposed to pray for them and allow God to do the work.
We're supposed to speak Jesus.
The boldest man I know is Todd White, with his own drug addicted, violent background. Watch any of his street ministry videos and stretch yourself to see like he does. To carry God's heart that much. Unafraid to speak Jesus, yet as gentle as the Spirit, a dove. A fountain bubbling up to eternal life. Bubbling water has never hurt anyone. We must bury our opinions of people beneath the blood of Christ and renew our minds to think like He does. Like Jesus did when what He knew of God was the revelation revealed to Him here on earth, revelation that enabled Him to stare hatred in the face and love it anyway.

“And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” (John 3:14-17)
