"There was no competition between God and the devil. The enemy was defeated before he ever fell from heaven like lightning, and he is defeated now completely because of Jesus Christ." |
JESUS IS NOT Luke Skywalker, an untrained youth plucked from the soil to rescue the galaxy. The Spirit is not a security camera, focused on certain locations for a time. The communion table is not a smorgasbord. Insert Swedish chef meme. The kingdom of heaven is not a multi-planet federation nor a embattled heavenly republic. As God-ordained as our government structure is with its system of checks and balances, there is one Kingdom of God with one King and a Spirit-knows number of heirs. We wear the same armor, carry the same weapon, and speak the same name of authority against the enemy. Our sword is the ultimate lightsaber, dividing even between soul and spirit. And that’s not just ours but others.
When we’re in a battle and need discernment, God provides every type of wisdom. We can know who is for us and who is against us. The apostle Paul speaks of men who snuck into the meetings of the early church with the intent to sow discord and cause chaos. But the Spirit in them exposed their work. We never have to walk into a trap. We never have to fall into a pothole or step in a snare. The devil has wiles and strategies, but God is aware of them and will expose them to us if we ask. We decide we’re going to WATCH and PRAY, and God shows us what we are seeing. He answers our prayer.
“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31)
We are not all piloting x-wing fighters, flying in and out of monstrous robotic vehicles. We ARE given wings as eagles. Much is made of what type of eagle or, it could be a vulture that is meant in Isaiah 40:31, given the location and period of time, but the point is that we fly upward and can see further and move faster. We begin by walking and running and then we fly. We can also state it in reverse. We fly and gain perspective and strength to walk and run without fainting. In either circumstance, God is our strength to continue forward and to do so with joy and peace in believing to reach the goal He has set for us. That we can make the journey in joy and peace should be where we set our faith and should be the words we speak. We’re always in uniform, our heavenly credentials on display.
Or we should be. Problem is, we’ve changed the script. We’re talking Trekkie in the middle of a Star Wars trilogy. We do too much under our own power, ignorant of God’s desire for us to succeed and prosper. This means in our finances, in our health, in our families. Taking it one step further, He wants us to never fall down, never struggle in the first place. Yes, He is healing. He delights in healing. But even greater, He is health. Yes, He supplies our every need, but what if our need was the one He gave us and not the one the enemy laid us out with?
When Afghanistan closed off to airlines, it was Minister Kenneth Copeland who was able to supply the means of flight to other ministries. What men had chastised him for became their wherewithal, and God had seen in advance both the need and the supply. He gave a man a heart of generosity big enough an airplane was no loss and others with nerves of steel did what was required, not fearing their lives or personal safety.
The body of Christ unified is a powerful force. The Word of God placed in the heart of men is a heavenly shield. The Spirit of God held close, dear to our spirit man, is greater than any weapon the enemy can hurl against us. God saw what we’d need before the earth was created. He “foreordained” redemption as I’ve said, before-Before. He gave our Savior a body when man did not exist and knew of the time and the season of His birth, His death and Resurrection. He decreed the end from the beginning with no fear of failure nor any interruption by men’s ignorance and missteps. This was no card came. There was no competition between God and the devil. The enemy was defeated before he ever fell from heaven like lightning, and he is defeated now completely because of Jesus Christ.
Jesus-won-kenobi, you’re our only hope.
The work God promised would be done has been done, and not because of Olympic achievement. Though Jesus suffered in His body and mind, He is crowned King not because He leapt further and jumped higher, though He laid His life down willingly as the Lamb of God, an event that changed the world. But He is King because He is God and Victor over death. He is a physical King of all physical kings, a son of King David, and spiritual King of all spiritual powers. He is Lord of all in both Light and darkness. Nothing is hidden from Him. No plot is hatched that goes outside of His vision; no words are spoken that He does not hear.
Even when He walked as man, limited by His physicality, He was filled with the Spirit beyond measure, and through the Holy Spirit, He walked on water and stilled the storm. Through the Spirit, He healed the sick, the lame, and the blind and deaf and mute. Spirit led, He cast out devils, not tolerated them. And when He died, though His body lay in the grave, He was alive in the spirit and as King, captured the keys of death and hell. He is God who became man. This is central to truth. We adore the man, Jesus, but we worship the King Jesus. And we trust Him for the work He did that provides us today with all things, a God-work only a God-man could do and do completely. We would have messed it up in our humanness. He didn’t. Minus rockets and missiles and an electromagnetic pulse, He became the force with us, and is now the fullness of our salvation, the rescue of the entire world.
“Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” (Matthew 1:23)
“For Jesus reveals the truth about God to all, and—through what Jesus has done—all have access to the Father by one Spirit.” (Ephesians 2:18, Remedy)
“For Jesus Christ is God in human flesh. Jesus is the very nature and substance of Divinity manifested in humanity; he is the channel through which God’s character, methods and principles flow into mankind, and through him you have been given the character of Christ who is the supreme Lord over all other powers and authorities.” (Colossians 2:9-10, Remedy)
