The Unseen

"They wanted a King on a horse. He came as a King with a spiritual crown seen only by those who saw into the spirit."

WE SEE EVERYTHING AS PHYSICAL, so God gives us physical portraits. The Levitical laws were physical regulations (actions) made on the earth through the bodies of men. Having a King over Israel was a physical office, ruled by a man placed in authority there. Building a physical temple was an earthly ministry that men could touch and see and “taste.” The feasts and sacrifices required by the Law were physical, with dates that corresponded to them and earthly foods and certain obediences required. There are more examples of this in the Word of God. But my point is, all of these physical actions were spiritual in significance and in fulfillment.

“The former Levitical regulation is discarded because it was only a symbolic teaching tool and therefore was powerless to heal.” (Hebrews 7:18, Remedy)

None of it could be seen with natural eyes. At the same time, physical men needed a physical Savior to die for them in His physical body, though the work He did in the flesh was spiritual in nature and fulfilled in the spirit. Woman was given a womb so that the Savior could be born to a woman. The body was given a heart with blood, so that His blood could be shed. These are physical things. But this was a work done in the Spirit.

There was meant to be a unity between the body and the spirit and a willingness of mind to what the spirit learned and demanded from the Holy Spirit and God in heaven above. The unity of man is from spirit to body, the unity of men is to be from spirit to spirit and seen in the flesh. Without unity of spirit (meaning spirit man, salvation, and not “spirit” as in enthusiasm), there is no unity between men nor between the spirits of men.

Men who are dead in spirit and consumed by the flesh cannot unite. They can only deaden their senses and follow along. Unity of flesh (through marriage or fornication or homosexuality) is not simply physical but unity of spirits. Done outside of Christ there is damage, not of life in the spirit, for there is none, but the devil can use it to further their destruction. But done inside of Christ it is especially destructive because here we have spirits given the life of God who are uniting outside of the purity and holiness of God.

“And so the ministry of Jesus is far superior to the earthly priests’ because he actually works in the human mind to heal and restore God’s image within his Spirit temple—and thus perfects his heavenly sanctuary—while they only ministered symbols in a building made of stone. For if the symbolic teaching tool could actually heal the mind and transform the heart, then it would not have been replaced with the actual Remedy.” (Hebrews 8:6-7 Remedy)

I have used this analogy before. But when you place an appliance in a house. Not plugged in, it is simply united in physical form. Plugged into its electrical wires, it becomes united in power. This is why no one in Jesus’ life (those who crucified Him) recognized who He was. They were not looking for spiritual realities but for earthly ones. They wanted a King on a horse. He came as a King with a spiritual crown, seen only by those who saw into the spirit.

We walk day-to-day amongst spiritual beings and don’t see them. We fear them, both angels and demons, and turn our gazes away, preferring the physical world. But the physical world revolves around the spiritual world, with the spiritual world in control of it. Until men know this and turn their lives over to the Holy Spirit, the head of the spiritual world, they will walk as blind men leading other blind men into a ditch. There is no other option for truth than to walk in the Spirit and be led of the Spirit.

“For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:” (Romans 8:3)

“For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.” (Romans 8:5)
