Not Today, Devil

"Jesus gave us the authority to defend our storehouse, to refuse the enemy the right to steal anything."

JUST BECAUSE THE STORE IS OPEN does not give anyone the right to rob it. Nor can the robber blame the clerk for handing over the money. Well, if you hadn’t given it to me. No, you were threatening my life. Nor can the robber blame the store for being open. Well, if you hadn’t been open, I wouldn’t have gone inside. No, it is a working store, and it must be open in order to sell products to consumers.

The human body is the same. In order for a person to be a productive member of society, in order for them to communicate, to live and work, to laugh and love, they must stay open. Their legs must work. Their eyes must focus. Their heart must pump blood. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy. Then he blames the person for being open, for allowing him in, and for giving him what he’s stolen. No, he has no right to enter the store and take what he has not paid for.

In fact, the Savior owns the store of every child of God. He purchased it with His blood then gave us the right to stand against the devil when he walks inside, gun ablazing. Jesus gave us the authority to defend our storehouse, to refuse the enemy the right to steal anything. And the Spirit of God is the power to enforce it. At the same time, we cannot blame the store owner for the store being open. He’s told us to go into all the world and preach the gospel. He’s told us to lift up holy hands without wrath or doubting. We are each individually given a commission. I’m a writer. Others are craftsmen. But we are each to shine the love of God everywhere we go, and we must be physically healthy to do that.

“(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;” (2 Corinthians 10:4-5 KJV)

We have the right to close the door to our minds and not allow the enemy to come in. Our mental health is as important as our physical health. The enemy has sold us a bucket of lies, that as we age, we get forgetful; that head injury always leads to dementia; that because of what we’ve suffered, we will always have this mental malady. That is bunk. 1 Corinthians 10:4 tells us to pull down the strongholds in our mind. In other words, think differently. Change how you respond to the thoughts in your head. Refuse the enemy the right to rob the storehouse. Put the Word of God in front of you instead of television and other entertainment. Fill your heart with the joy of the Lord. If you can’t find it or have no idea what that is, then ask Him to come and give you joy unspeakable and full of glory. He delights in you. I promise, He will speak.

Keep the store open. Keep cash flowing. Keep products on the shelves. And know your rights as children of Jehovah. You neither have to listen to the enemy brag about his weapons nor put up with what he’s decided to rip off the shelves. No, you don’t, devil. Everything here is mine, bought and paid for by the blood of Jesus Christ.
