"No more fear. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?" |
I'm laughing AT the enemy not WITH him. He has become, officially, the butt of the joke. There he was, staring the Messiah in the face but could do no more than issue threats.
Yea, well, if you worship me then I'll... I'll give you stuff.
Jesus: Yawn. Worship only the Lord YOUR GOD. (Holy Spirit finger points inward.)
The devil didn't get the point and did exactly what God knew he would do, filled men with hate and murder and they put their Savior to death. They looked Jesus in the eyes, just as their master, the devil, did, and followed suit. From the kingdom of death came death to Jesus of Nazareth, just as God had planned it. And out of death, came an awesome display of life. There is no more authority to death. Jesus stripped it away.
No more fear. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? What a joke! Afraid of what? That? The Bible says when men finally see the devil they will say, THAT'S HIM?
I get it. Walk around in the dark and what you can't see seems scary. But what about WHO YOU CAN? Because the Light of God always dispels the darkness. Lean into Him. Speak the Word and laugh at the enemy's lies. Prophet Chuck Pierce says the church has to break free of superstition about the enemy. I can't agree enough. We shade our eyes and indulge our fears of what our Savior defeated when, instead, the fact he tries to crawl up our leg at all should make us chuckle.
We are seated in heavenly places with Christ Jesus. The King of Kings, who led the defeated enemy in a triumphal parade, is our Friend. The Word which WAS and IS and IS TO COME is on our side and in our mouths. And let me tell you, once you've met Him, you'll know why the JOY OF THE LORD is our strength. Jesus loves to laugh.
I saw a t-shirt with a drawing of the cross on it and beside it, it said, "I know a Guy." Well, I know a Guy, and that Guy turned the devil into a first-class joke. But until we stop giving the enemy a place to stand, he will keep yapping, and our emotions will get involved: fear, bitterness, and a million other feelings.
God gave us those feelings, so we'd enjoy life and follow the Spirit. He's the other thing. When we're hooked up to Him, we have love, joy, peace, faith, goodness, gentleness, and self-control. Led of the Spirit, we overcome the devil's attempts to tear us down by singing songs and hymns and spiritual songs. And occasionally … daily … often, telling a good joke.
What do you get when you cross the devil and a smorgasbord?
“From the very moment the earth was created, God’s true self has been constantly revealed: his eternal life-giving power, his loving nature, his respect for freedom, and his methods of gracious giving; his character is seen in everything he has made, so that humans are not left in darkness and have no excuse for remaining in their terminal state.” (Romans 1:20)
“They exchanged the truth of God—his loving and forgiving character, his respect for freedom, his willingness to sacrifice for his creation—for Satan’s lies about God, and worshiped and served false gods (who required payment to appease their angry wrath) rather than the Creator, who alone is worthy of our praise. Amen.” (Romans 1:25 Remedy)
