Where In Heaven

"Where in heaven is there any room for our hate and prejudices?"

GOD HAS SET A BEAUTIFUL TABLE, He has prepared a feast beyond imagination, and bids all who are weary to come and eat. But what if, amidst the wonder, amidst the grandeur and bounty of it, you are seated next to Jane? You remember Jane. She’s the one who … No, please not Jane. What if, what if, that person on your left doesn’t look like you? What if they different? What if, just what if, you are seated next to someone who, on earth, did the most despicable thing and was saved at their last, dying breath?

Where in heaven is there any room for our hate and prejudices? Why would Christians lambast ANYONE knowing Jesus died for them? The church hating that woman because of her tattoos, or him for his time in prison, or that couple for their mixed ethnicity is RIDICULOUS. SO WHAT. So what, she used to believe in abortion. Used to. So what, he entered another country illegally. So what, he was President. King. Rodeo clown. When we all get to heaven, what a day of REJOICING that will be. No more sorrows. No more mourning. No more hate.

Sew your opinions up and toss them on the fire. Jesus died for WHOSOEVER, and I know that I know that I know that in heavenly places there are people we couldn’t stand on earth. But you know what? In heaven, WE WILL LOVE THEM. And ON EARTH, WE SHOULD LOVE THEM. Look for the most despicable person and tell yourself, I will love that man, that woman. Tell yourself to love them as Jesus did, He died for them. Say it even when they are in your face spitting and sputtering. Even if they hold the power to take from you everything you own. Because they can’t take your peace. You have to give that away. They can’t take God out of your heart, not even the darkest demons of hell can do that. They can’t take Jesus off the throne and put Him back in the grave. Back on the cross.

No amount of hatred voiced in any manner is worth that.

What’s done is done. Jesus is alive, and His instructions to us on repeat were to LOVE ONE ANOTHER. He put no exceptions to it. Not the boss at your old job who fired you and was way off base. Not the guy who cut you off on the way to your daughter’s wedding and so you were late. Not the guy who robbed a little old woman at gun point. Nor the lawman who arrested him. There is judgment on earth for our actions, but once a person accepts Christ in their heart they are forgiven. All their sins are washed away. And if they haven’t found Him, Jesus is seeking for them. They are lost in the darkness, and He is the Light. Their hatred should bring out His compassion in you, and even more so because His Love is in you. The Father who sent Him, now sends you.

Our Father in heaven asks for His will there to be done here, and up there, we are free of sin and hatred. Up there, in the throne room, we’ll be too busy worshiping the God of heaven and earth, too overwhelmed by His greatness, to care who somebody was. Too consumed by His beauty to see ugliness in anyone. For there is no shadow in Him, not one. He lights it all. He loves us all. And was so consumed by it, He was willing to die and raise with Him all who would believe. To eat our fill at His table.

“Life is constructed to operate upon giving, so give; and the more you give, the more will be given to you: a great abundance of love—concentrated, intense, overwhelming and all-consuming—will be poured into your being. For the way you treat others reveals the condition of your own character, and your own condition determines your destiny.” (Luke 6:38 Remedy)

“Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men.” (1 Corinthians 14:20)
