Love, Give, Do.

OUR WORDS ESTABLISH our future and set forth our actions. The enemy is skilled in deceit, in illusion and figmentation. He understands how to enter our thoughts and can use our physiology, our natural body reactions, against us, He causes us to FEEL fear, to FEEL anxiety and dread, to further his destructive purposes. He is the author of sickness and disease, DIS-EASE, and will use it to turn our minds away from God’s love for us. With our bodies fighting against us, we weary and fall down. The images he’s painted before us seem too large to overcome, and our unhappiness too much to contain.

We fall into depression or speak anger against others. Against God. We criticize and complain about people. When the Word of God plainly says our battle is not against men. We are fighting the powers of darkness, the devil and demons, and we fight them WITH OUR WORDS. We refuse to SPEAK guile, whether that is to hurt someone else or our belief in the enemy’s deceit against us, and instead, we SPEAK God’s truth. What does He say about them? What does He say about us?

Minister Bill Johnson listed three responses to spiritual warfare, which took me by surprise. Spiritual warfare in the charismatic church has been pictured as sword-swinging, armor-wearing people, who shout and sing at the top of their lungs. But the sword we are carrying are the WORDS OF TRUTH, and it matters not whether you whisper them, use an everyday voice, or holler at the top of your lungs. Their force comes because they are IN YOUR HEART, because you believe them. We do not memorize them by rote and quote as parrots, but we know the God who gave them to us. We know He will fulfill what we SPEAK in trust.

We fight the devil with COMPASSION, with GENEROSITY, and CREATIVITY. All wisdom comes from God. Every profession is meant to protect and enhance the lives of people through the truths men can only receive from Jehovah. Doctors, lawyers, educators should speak from Him. It is the enemy’s deception that they don’t. Artists, entertainers, sports stars should create from Him because it is His workmanship that is within us. He designed the human mind and the human body, which the devil works continually to use against us. He would steal our mobility, kill our dreams and visions, and destroy the beauty God would work through us.

To help others. To encourage them. If God were given control, if He were made Lord of every life, there would be no more confusion. Confusion is the work of the enemy. There would be more illness. God’s knowledge would flow through the medical community. There would be no more hate. We are told to love one another, no matter what our culture, our gender, our age, or any other factor. We love, we show compassion, and the enemy has no more hold over our reactions. OUR WORDS become God’s words. We become GIVING people, not tied down to things or inflated by knowledge we have acquired. We no longer center our lives around ourselves but place others first, as Christ did, who died for us.

No greater love has anyone than that they would lay down their life for their friends. Christ spoke this of Himself, but He spoke it of us. First, in that we call another man a friend, regardless of our opinions, we have overcome the enemy. Second, in that we would do for them what they do not deserve, we have truly become like Jesus. Third, it is our creativity, it is what God can do through us using the talents He has poured into us, that displays love as its highest form. A writer writes well to bring joy to others. A singer sings well to pour God’s anointing into people’s lives. An educator teaches truth, so that those listening will know how to react and respond.

That every person, everywhere uses THEIR WORDS wisely, seems like an ideal. But that is the point. The enemy would stir up strife and condemnation. He would have us at each other’s throats, rather than joined together. The church is meant to bring UNITY, to BE UNITED, with Christ as the head and all the different parts of Him, both outward and inward, working efficiently and to their best. Here is our joy, that we do what He has called us to do with a full heart, that we do it led of the Spirit and not of our minds nor the enemy’s whispers. And we have to start somewhere, we must start today, we must start with this task before us, whatever that is, and mind OUR WORDS. Live as if Jesus is standing beside you, because if you have made Him Lord, then He is.

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” (Romans 10:9)
