Half-baked Gospel

"We must know who He is and what He has promised to do. We do not doubt His loving, kind, and generous nature. He is always faithful, and we can lay all of our cares, our doubts in His hands."

THERE COMES A POINT when you have to stop asking questions. Questions are good, to gain information and increase spiritual growth. It is by asking about doctrines and events in the Scriptures that the Spirit, our Teacher, gives explanation. But there are also questions that only enable doubt to gain a foothold. We ask having decided the answer and not because we want God to give us any understanding. Or we ask in fear, not believing in His care for us. Or in accusation. What we cannot figure out is surely God's fault, so we think. We may even remove the word "fault" and label it differently. Our anxiety becomes caution or common sense, and His seeming inattention, we call “sovereignty.”

Our trust in God requires us to eliminate doubt. We should not doubt His character or His motives. In order to be like those listed in the Hall of Faith, we must know who He is and what He has promised to do. We do not doubt his loving, kind, and generous nature. He is always faithful, and we can lay all of our cares, our doubts, in His hands. When they rise up within us, He knows we have them and what they are, and instead of dwelling on them, we refuse to give them any time in our minds.

No, I will not accuse God of bringing harm. He is good to me. He loves me. No, I will not doubt this situation will end in my favor because He has my life in His hands. He has promised me wisdom, so I can handle whatever I’m up against. His Word says I'm healed, and goodness and mercy follow me all the days of my life.

By speaking these words aloud, He becomes implanted in our thinking. We renew our mind, a way of saying we change our thinking habits to become the Truth of God and not the devil's lie. When squeezed, what comes out of you? What recipe are you reading? God’s recipe contains all the right ingredients. The enemy’s leaves the key things out; he’s baking biscuits without leavening. Having a well-framed picture of the result isn’t enough. Deception promises us good results, it looks like things will turn in our favor, but the enemy’s method of gain is an illusion headed to failure. God’s Word is for our success. Success always comes through Him.

God promised Israel He would go before them into the Promised Land. They would win battles because He was in control of their destiny. They were to walk in His commandments, according to instructions He’d given them, but their success was because God promised to keep His covenant to their ancestors. They knew who He was. He’d parted the Red Sea for their fathers, fed them with manna in the wilderness. He’d parted the Jordan River. He was the God of His Word.

“And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God.” (Mark 4:11)

Study of the Scriptures promises to bring questions, and God adores answering them. He opens the mystery of the gospel to us. His Word lights our pathway. The entrance of it into our hearts gives light. His Holy Spirit strengthens us to withstand the pressures of life’s dilemmas. With God’s presence filling us, we go into the situation in a peace that cannot be swayed by any of the enemy’s suggestions. God’s wisdom prevents us from being backed into a corner. Jesus is our way of escape. We choose to walk in the Spirit, to be lead of the Spirit, and the precious Spirit makes the lies of the enemy apparent. Now, instead of asking questions which lead to doubt and fear, we make statements of faith. We speak the Word and refuse to turn back from it.

Jesus made the way for us to have all we need both to learn Truth and to overcome the enemy. All that He has in heaven is ours on earth. All that we ask in His name, the Father will give us. From the very desires themselves, our wills aligning with His, to the success of the dreams and visions He gives us, with not one doubt of it at any moment in between.

“When you go out looking for your old adversaries you won't find them—Not a trace of your old enemies, not even a memory. That's right. Because I, your God, have a firm grip on you and I'm not letting go. I'm telling you, 'Don't panic. I'm right here to help you.'” (Isa 41:11-13 THE MESSAGE)

“They [the former tyrant masters] are dead, they shall not live and reappear; they are powerless ghosts, they shall not rise and come back. Therefore You have visited and made an end of them and caused every memory of them [every trace of their supremacy] to perish” (Isa 26:14 AMP).
