Jesus Always Is

"We He is, we are united with Him. There's no ceasing between us, no place where He stops and we begin."

THE LINE OF THE SUN goes around the earth unbroken by clouds or rain. It is consistent, constant, set on its course from the beginning of time in order to control the seasons. Though it varies in appearance to those far below, who gather its heat, from its orbit, it is the same.

Jesus wears a coat of many colors. He is God, eternal, Jehovah, Elohim. He is Lord and Saviour, Christ and Messiah. He is King of Kings. But He is also the son of Mary and Joseph. A divine being has an earthly parentage. He has brothers and sisters.

Jesus is the Head of the church, and we are His body, His hands and His feet. He is Head of all government. All nations belong to Him. He is Adonai, Lord of Hosts, Head of angelic forces. He walked on the earth, meek and lowly. He gave of His life for all men. He became the temple in which men worshipped and the sacrifice for them. But He is also risen and resurrected, His body remade. Glorious, the apostle Paul called it. Jesus said He was flesh and bone.

It is not that He wears many hats but one of many colors, which turns like the sun to shine where He's needed. And we need Him as Saviour. Our hearts should be His heart, our desire that all would come to know Him. We need Him as Lord. Man cannot rule man without God involved in it. Man cannot rule Himself without Jesus' direction.

We need Him as King, to rule those in authority, to make decisions in the heavens where He rode in triumph. But we need Him as Author of our daily being. We need Him as Finisher when the sun sets. He must be Messiah, our Great Redeemer, but He's also our Father everlasting.

We need Him as Alpha, He who was and is. We need Him to be Omega, He who will be. We must know the times are in His hand. He is the Spirit of the Father, one with the Comforter within. He is our faithful Creator, but also Brother, also Husband, also our Friend.

The truth is His to give. His strength in heaven, ours to live. His heart of goodness ours to handle. Where He is, we are, united with Him. There's no ceasing between us, no place where He stops and we begin. No moment He is not with us. No town, no city, no house in any neighborhood do we inhabit without Him. Where we are, He always is.

When we look away, He turns us toward Him. When we turn aside, He calls our name. If we fall, He sits there with us until His strength comes and then He lifts us, sets us before Him, and evens our pace. Where He leads, we will follow. What He speaks, we will proclaim. When He returns, we know it. From east to west, from north to south, all eyes will behold Him, those in heaven, far above us, where we will meet Him, in His glory. Expectant. And knowing. Because He's been here on our journey, every minute, every second of every day.

“Therefore my people shall know my name: therefore they shall know in that day that I am he that doth speak: behold, it is I.” (Isaiah 52:6)
